Dr. Kusnitz Dies;
Prominent Civic
Jewish Leader
ALMA, GA.—Dr. Morris Kus
nitz, 51, died September 7. Fu
neral services were held at the
Fitzgerald Hebrew Synagogue,
September 9. Rabbi Nathan Ko-
hen officiated. Interment was in
the Fitzgerald Hebrew Ceme
tery.
Dr. Kusnitz was at the time of
his death, the president of the
Fitzgerald Hebrew Congregation.
He was a past state president of
the Georgia B’nai B’rith, a Ma
son, member of Scottish Rite, a
Shriner, a directory of the
Wheeler County Development
Corp., county medical examin
er, and a member of the Ameri
can Medical Association.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Dora S. Kusnitz, Alamo; his
mother, Mrs. Jennie Kusnitz,
Bridgeport, Conn.; three sons,
Joel, Warren and Arnold Kus
nitz, Alamo; one brother, Nor
man Kusnitz, Fairfield, Conn.;
three sisters, Mrs. Fannie De-
bracio, New York; Mrs. Ethel
Risesky, Miss Molly Kusnitz,
Bridgeport, Conn.
MRS. MAX EPSTEIN
Mrs. Max Epstein, 69, of At
lanta, died Sept. 11. Funeral ser
vices were held Sept. 12, at
Spring Hill. Rabbi Jacob M.
Rothschild officiated. Interment
•was in Crest Lawn Memorial
Park.
Mrs. Epstein, the former Celia
Lazear, was the wife of Max
Epstein, owner of the Crown
Tailoring Co. She was a native
of Pittsburgh and an Atlanta
resident about 47 years.
She was a member of the Tem
ple, the Council of Jewish Women
and the Standard Town & Coun
try Club.
Surviving also are two daugh
ters, Mrs. Roland Sternthall and
Mrs. Clifford Jockers; a son,
Philip Lazear, all of Atlanta;
two sisters, Mrs. Sam Eisenstein
and Mrs. Max J. Friedman, and
a brother, Julius Lazear, all of
New York.
Mrs. Natalie Scheier
Mrs. Natalie Scheier, 90, died
September 10, at the Atlanta
Jewish Home.
Graveside services were held
September 11 in Crest Lawn
Memorial Park. Rabbi Jacob M.
Rothschild officiated.
A native of Germany, Mrs.
Scheier moved to Atlanta from
England on the death of her
husband in 1951. She had been
a resident of the Jewish Home
for about five years.
Surviving are two sons, Alfred
Scheier, Atlanta, and Eric E.
Shire, New York City.

Israeli Dancers for
Temple Sisterhood
Several Israeli students will
present a recital of their na
tional folk dances for members
of the Temple Sisterhood on
Monday, Oct. 13.
The members will meet for
luncheon at 12:30 p.m. at the
Temple Social Hall. Later they
will see illustrations of Biblical
and modern dances performed
by Aviva and Pinhas Shwinger,
newly wed Israeli students.
Isaac Ifrach will serve as master
of ceremonies. Bruria Falik will
also perform dance numbers.
Aviva is a student at Oglethorpe
University. The others in the
dance troup attend Georgia
Tech.
