Atlanta Chapter to Mark ORT
Day at lea on March 17
Atlanta members of Women’s
American ORT (Organization
for Rehabilitation through
Training) will on March 17 join
their 50,000 fellow members
throughout the country in cele
brating ORT Dayy
A major 'smrpbrter of World
ORT Union, the global agency
devoted to giving vocational
education t o underprivileged
Jews, Women’s American ORT
sets this day aside annually to
review the year’s achievements,
begin plans for .the next year,
and enroll new members.
Mayor William B. Hartsfield,
in a ceremony in his office on
Mar. 3rd, officially declared ORT
Day in Atlanta. Similar cere
monies are being conducted in
over 200 offices around the
country.
Highlights of the Atlanta ORT
Day activities will be a tea at
the Progressive Club, Mrs. Mart
in Shaw, chapter president, will
describe ORT’s work on behalf
of its 33,000 students.
Women’s American ORT is a
membership organization affili
ated with the American ORT
Federation, which currently re
ceives funds, exclusive of mem
bership dues, by special agree
ment with the Joint Distribu
tion Committee, a member agen
cy of the United Jewish Ap
peal.

Students Elect
School Officers
During recent election, stu
dents of the Hebrew Institute
elected the following officers
for the student government:
Richard Krebs, president;
Sandra Andrews, vice president;
Bobby Shuman, secretary, and
Michael Pousner, treasurer.
Class delegates to the Hebrew
Institute School Council include:
David Bauman, Perry Schwartz,
Howard Minsk, Lanny Lipsky,
Maxine Klein, David Lips,
Barbara Ellison, Bobby Ronick,
Ellis Abrams, Judy Feldman,
Arlene Schwartz, Steve Merlin,

The officers and school coun
cil will meet periodically to dis
cuss school projects, such as
“Safety Patrol,” “school news
paper’’ and “library aides.”
The Hebrew Institute, 1140

stitute has announced plans for
a Purim Party for Hebrew In
stitute children, to be held Sun
day afternoon, March 22. On the
planning committee are: Mes-
dames Irvin Leslie, P.T.A. presi
dent; Milton Krebs, Jerome Elli
son, Harry Shartar, Abe Leve-
tan, Joseph Broudy, Louis Gad-
lin, Sidney Rich, Durward Ger-
son, Seymour Rappaport, and
Aaron Feldman.
Shearith Israel News
Rabbi Sydney K. Mossman
will conduct late Friday evening
services at the Shearith Israel
Synagogue, March 0, at 8 pm.
He will speak on “How Good Is
Second Best." Cantor Harold L.
Kapiloff and the Choir will
assist in conducting services.
The Kiddush wUl be recited
by Neil Zimmerman. The Ark
will be opened by Joe I. Zim
merman. Following the services
a reception will be held in the
Social Hall. \

Beth Jacob News
The Beth Jacob Brotherhood
will sponsor a bingo, mah jong
and card party for members,
their wives and friends, on
Sunday, March 8, at 8 p.m. in the
synagogue social hall. Brother
hood president, Eugene Wein
berg, has announced that the
admission of $1.50 per person
will include refreshments and
hot dogs with all the ‘'trim
mings.”

join in.

Junior Hadassah
Fashion Show Mar. 17
Anne Frank Chapter of Junior
Hadassah will present a “Jun
ior Hadassah Review and Fash
ion Show," Tuesday, March 17,
at 4:00 p.m., on the fifth floor
in Rich’s auditorium.
Door prizes will be given and
refreshments served. Tickets
can be purchased for $1.00 from
any of the members or at the
door. All proceeds will go to
Hadassah projects in Israel.

Center Opens
New Library
The Atlanta Jewish Commun
ity Center’s library is now open.
Hours: Sunday, 1:30-5:30 p.m.
Monday, 7:00-10:00 p.m. Wednes
day, 7:00-8:00 pm. Friday, 2:30-
5:00 p.m. The librarian is Miss
Rosalind Zion.
The members of the AJCG’s
Camera Club will meet Monday,
March 9, at 8 pun. to analyze
and discuss the still life photo
graphs taken at a previous ses
sion. Dr. Manny Fineman will
also conduct a special session on
photographing life models at
this time. All members should
bring their cameras, tripods,
and film.
The winner of the first AJCC
ping pong tournament is Mike
Feldman, who is a serviceman
stationed at Ft. McPherson. A
trophy bearing Mr. Feldman’s
name was awarded him. Carl
Golden placed second and Paul
Klein took third place.
Dr. Sidney Isenberg, well-
known Atlanta psychiatrist, will
discuss “Sex Education—What
to Tell Our Children” on March
10, at 8 pm. A film, “Human
Beginnings,” will be shown
prior to the discussion. All in
terested parents are invited to
join the Nursery School Par
ents’ Group that evening.
Registration for Camp Ajeco-
mce. the AJCC day camp held
at the Center, will be held Sun
day; ! March 8, from 10 am. to
4:00 pm. in the auditorium. The
full camp season lasts eight
weeks, from June 22 to August
14. Cam per* hips are available
through personal interview with
the Camp Director, Ed Korgh.
