SESAME SEED SPREAD
H cup softened butter or mar
garine
V4 cup lightly browned sesame
seeds
Cream together in a small bowl
and use as a spread for caraway-
seed rye, snack slices. Or cut
pumpemickle slices into rounds
or triangles and spread the
slices evenly. Keep refrigerated
until a few minutes before serv
ing time. Place on a cookie sheet
and heat at'375 deg. F. in a pre
heated oven, about 5 minutes.
If you prefer crusty French
Bread, the thin kind, slice and
spread the mixture between
slices, then wrap in aluminum
foil and heat for 5 minutes as
above. Open the wrapping and
separate just before serving.
Serve with cocktails, salads or
beverages.
Here’s a favorite dessert, too,
for any happy time:
ICE CREAM FILLER RING
Baked Wheat Rings:
1 package small shredded
wheat bits (7-8 ounces)
>4 cup melted butter or mar
garine
1 cup honey
>4 Teaspoon powdered ginger
2/3 cup broken pecans or
chopped peanuts

Grease a 1-quart ring mold
liberally with butter. Crumble
the shredded wheat bits in a
mixing bowl. Combine melted
butter or margarine, honey,
ginger and bits of nuts and stir
into the crumbled wheat till well
combined. Press some of this
mixture into the prepared ring
mold, and with the bowl of a
spoon press against inside of
mold then fill in the rest of the
mixture lightly. Bake 20 min
utes in a pre-heated oven at 375
deg. F. to 400 deg. F. Let stand
in oven with open door, 3 min
utes. Remove from oven and use
a spatula to run around inside
of ring mold then inside outer

of Melbourne, Australia, has in r
vited Noah Sherif, 23-year-old
prize-winning c o m p o s er and
conductor of the Hebrew Uni
versity Orchestra, to dedicate a
new composition to the Vic
torian orchestra. The orchestra
recently presented Sherif s
“Prelude” during a special con
cert in Melbourpe marking Is
rael’s tenth anniversary.

was elected president of the
American Jewish Historical So
ciety at its 57th annual meeting
here yesterday. He succeeded
Dr. Jacob R. Marcus of Cincin
nati who was elected honorary
president of the society.
