Southeast Hadassah
Plans Educational
Institute in Atlanta
Mrs. Herbert Blumenthal of
Savannah, Southeastern Hadas
sah Region education chairman,
this week, announced that an
educational institute will be
held on August 26, 10:30 a m. to
3 p.m. at the Jewish Community
Center in Atlanta.
Subjects for the Institute will
be “The sources of Jewish Liv
ing Today” discussed by Rabbi
Alvin Lieberman and “T h e
Sources of Jewish Life Today
from a Zionist View,” by Mr.
Morris Mitzner.
Mrs. Blumenthal is a dynamic
young leader, active in the com
munal life of Savannah. She
has served as chairman of edu
cation, Oneg Shabbat, Zionist
affairs and programming in
Savannah. In addition she served
her chapter as treasurer, secre
tary and vice president. She is
serving on the boards of Sister
hood, Savannah Jewish Council,
Alliance, P.T.A., B’nai B’rith
and Brandeis Women. Mrs.
Blumenthal has been chairman
of the Initial Gifts Section of
UJA, and in 1947, Esther was
one of the young women who
helped Herman Popkin start
Young Judaea in Savannah.
Lunch will be served at the

S.E. Hadassah Board
To Meet in Augusta
The Southeastern Region of
Hadassah will hold the first
board meeting of the 1959-1960
administration Tuesday, August
12, 10:30 a.m. at the Richmond
Hotel in Augusta.
At this time plans for the
following year will be made.
Mrs. Charles Weiner, president,
will announce plans for the
national convention to be held
September 13-16 in St. Louis.
All regional chairmen will
bring to the board their plan
ning for the coming year.

from a vacation in Miami.

Dr. Irving Greenberg is re
cuperating at St. Joseph’s Hos
pital where he is undergoing
treatment.

have returned to Atlanta after a
trip to Haiti.

Langer have returned to At
lanta after a month at Tel Ye
huda at Barryville, N. Y. Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Krick, their
children Rosalyn and Elliott,
will leave Sunday for a motor
trip to Chicago where Elliott
will return this fall to enter the
Freshman class at Chicago Uni
versity.
First Cousins Make
“Toyland” Chorus,
Next at Starlite
Judy Mizell, 10, and Marilyn
Kraar, 12, have been selected
for the girls chorus for the pro
duction “Babes in Toyland” be
ginning August 11 at Chastain
Memorial Park.
This is Judy’s second perform
ance at Chastain. She was in
the “King and I” three years
ago. Judy and Marilyn are first
cousins. They are the children
of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mizell
and Mr. and Mrs. Abe Kraar.
Judy attends Momingside and
Marilyn the Hebrew Academy.
They are part of a chorus of
56 who will perform in this
popular Victor Herbert produc
tion.
Children, 12 and under, will
be admitted for half price.

Carol Gail Breman, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. M. William
Breman, became the bride of
Robert Samuel Nemo, son of
Harry Nemo and Mrs. James
W. Frenkel of Cincinnati, re
cently at the bride’s home in
Atlanta. Rabbi Philip Schech-
ter performed the ceremony.
Edward Nemo of Cincinnati
was his brother’s best man.
Betty Holland of Atlanta was
maid of honor.
A dinner was given after the
ceremony at the bride’s home.
Upon their return from a
wedding trip to Miami, Nassau
and Havana, the couple will
reside in Champaign, Ill.
Gastfreund-Jakubowski
The marriage of Albert Gast-
freund of Atlanta and Miss Ruth
Jakubowsky of Israel, was sol
emnized on March 29 in Tel
Aviv Israel.
After a honeymoon in Israel,
the couple has returned to At
lanta, where Mr. Gastfreund is
associated in business with
Jack Shoe Service.
Mr. Gastfreund is the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Abe Gast
freund of Atlanta.
Miss Jakubowsky is the daugh
ter of Mrs. Sophia Jacob.

Mrs. Janet Rose of Bridge
port, Conn., announces the en
gagement of her daughter, Judy
Doreen Rose, to Joe Samuel
Kusnitz, son of Mrs. Dora Kus-
nitz and the late Dr. Morris
Kusnitz of Alamo, Ga.
The bride-elect is a June
graduate of Central High School
of Bridgeport and is presently
employed by the Remington
Rand Company.
Mr. Kusnitz, a graduate of
Georgia Military Academy, at
tended Oglethorpe University
and the University of Bridge
port. During service in the arm
ed forces of the United States,
he was stationed in Korea.
The wedding ceremony will
be performed by Rabbi Nathan
Kohen of the Fitzgerald Hebrew
Congregation on August 25th.
After a wedding trip the
couple will reside at 476 Charles
St. in Bridgeport, Conn where
Mr. Kusnitz is associated with
the Consolidated Wrecking Com
pany.

Lesser, to Robert P. Goldstein,

Miss Lesser was graduated

and attended Marjorie Webster
Junior College in Washington,

Mr. Goldstein was graduated
from the Wharton School of Fi
nance and Commerce of the

WASHINGTON, (AJP) — The
next several decades will see the
life span in the U.S. reach 100
years; retirement age will be set
back to 85 and by the century-
mark there,.-will be five women
to each two men—all healthy and
hardy. This prediction was made
here this week by Dr. Edward L.
