After a summer at Blue Star
Camp, Miss Elaine Sandra Li-
bowsky, I daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Irving Libowsky of Atlanta,
has returned to the University
of Georgia at Athens where she
is a sophomore. She is sweet
heart of the TEPhi fraternity.
Miss Sandra Levy, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Levy of
Atlanta, is returning to the Uni
versity of Georgia.
Gustav Oppenheimer was en
tertained at a cocktail party on
his sixtieth birthday by nis wife,
Theresa, at their new home, 1241
Biltmore Dr., N. E. Mr. Oppen
heimer is on the advertising
staff of The Southern Israelite.
Airman First Class and Mrs.
Jonathan Leland announce the
birth of a daughter Sylvia Ma-
ryse on August 2 at Eglin Air
Base, Val Pariso, Fla., where the
father was then stationed. He is
now stationed in Denver. Mrs.
Renee Freby, mother of Mrs. Le
land, from France, visited her
children for the birth of Sylvia.
She is now in Atlanta visiting
Mrs. Kay Leland Effel, moth
er of Airman Leland, and Mr.
Effel.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Leiter of
Atlanta are motoring to the West
Coast with stopovers planned at
Las Vegas and San Francisco.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Heiman
of Atlanta and son Richard of
Miami attended the Tau Epsilon
phi Fraternity Convention at
Grossinger’s, New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Weiss of
Atlanta spent the Labor Day
weekend at the Castle in the
Clouds, Lookout Mt., Tenn.
Miss Kathleen Leland of At
lanta will leave soon for Uni
versity Park, Penna., where she
has heen awarded an assistant-
ship in sociology at Pennsylvania
State University. She is a grad
uate of Emory and taught last
year in the Atlanta Public
School System. I

of a daughter Anita Beth on
August 19. Mrs Bimbrev is the
former Rickie Kreses of Birming

of Atlanta are spending two

Final Auditions
Set for Atlanta
Lodge Musical
Atlanta Lodge of B’nai B’rith
will hold final auditions for
principal roles in its forthcoming
musical, “The Fruman Comedy’’,
on Monday, Sept. 14, at 8:30 p in.
at the Mayfair Club. All B’nai
B’rith members interested in par
ticipating, may apply at this au
dition if they have not already
done so.
The show which features book
by Ted Levitas, Alvin Saul and
Norman Shavin; lyres by Alvin
Saul and music by Kieve Land-
esberg will be presented No
vember 21, 22, and 23 at Theatre
Atlanta op Peachtree.
Hildegarde Bennett, well
known for her work With the At
lanta Civic Ballet, will produce
the show. More than two hun
dred members of B’nai B’rith
will participate in the produc
tion.
An interesting note about this
latest production is that for the
first time Atlanta Lodge is pre
senting an original play with
an original musical score. Pro
fits from the show, which is a
satire on contemporary life, will
be devoted to support of com
munity service projects spon
sored by the Atlanta Lodge.
Schaffer Bar Mitzvah
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Schaffer

vah of their son, Barry William,
on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 9 a.m.,
at the Shearith Israel Synagogue.

Sisterhood Meeting
The opening meeting of the
Or Ve’ Shalom Sisterhood will
be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16
at 1:00 P.M. at the Synagogue,
Lunch will be served.
Plans for the coming year will
be discussed at the meeting, and
members of the Board will pre
sent a skit entitled “The Board
View”.
Mrs. Albert Tenenbaum is
president of the Sisterhood.

force of the Atlanta Agency for
the month of July and has been
selected as “Man of the Month.”
This is the second time that
Mr. Cohen has so won this dis-
tincton in the past eight months.
Prior to entering the life in
surance business, Mr. Cohen was
owner and president of Maco
Construction Company, builders
and developers in Atlanta for
the past twelve years.
Beth Jacob Women
Luncheon Sept. 14
The Beth Jacob Sisterhood will
open its activities for the season
with a Luncheon Meeting on
Monday, Sept. 14, at 12 M. in
the Beth Jacob Synagogue Social
Hall, at 475 Boulevard N. E.
Mrs. Eugene Weinberg, vice-
president of Programming, has
announced that Cantor Philip
Rosenblatt will present a pro
gram of liturgical music for the
High Holidays, accompanied by
Mrs. Joseph Green at the piano.
According to Mrs. Ben Golden,
Sisterhood President, Mrs. Da
vid Katz will be in charge of food
preparation and decorations.
Those in attendance at the
luncheon will be welcomed by
Mrs. Philip Levetan, hospitality
chairman, and her committee of
hostesses among whom will be
some faces new to the Sister
hood.
Admission to the luncheon is
one dollar, and reservations can
be made by calling Mrs. Harry
Davis, TR. 6-0811.

I)r. Schafferman Staffer
At Hypnosis Seminar
Dr. Sam Shafferman of Bir
mingham was on the staff of
lecturers at the recent Seminar
on Hypnosis for Physicians and
Dentists which was conducted at
the Atlanta Biltmore for a large
group of practitioners from the
Southeastern states.
Dr. Shafferman is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Shafferman,
long-time Atlanta residents. He
received his training at Emory
U. and has been practicing med
icine in Alabama since 1946. Dr.
Shafferman is an official of the
American Society of Clinical
Hypnosis.
Golda Meir Chapter
Luncheon, Sept. 16
The new season of the Golda
Meir Chapter, Pioneer Women,
will open with a luncheon, Wed
nesday, Sept. 16, at 12:30 p.m. at
the Jewish Community Center.
Highlight of the afternoon will
be a guest speaker, newly ap
pointed vice consul from Israel,
Michael Deouell, who has just
arrived in the United States. He
will give us an up to date re
port on conditions in Israel, and
the role Moetzet Hapoalot plays
there.
