Will Speak at
Mizrachi Donor
The auditorium of the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center on
Peachtree Road will be the
scene of Mizrachi Women’s an
nual donor luncheon Wednes
day, Dec. 2.
Formerly held in the Spring,
the Donor Luncheon will set a
precedent with its December
date.
Guest speaker for the luncheon
will be Rabbi Harry H. Epstein,
.spiritual leader of Ahavath
Actum Synagogue, who has re
turned recently from a trip to
Israel. The invocation will be
delivered by Mrs. Harry H.
Epstein. Several musical selec
tions will be played by pianist,
Mrs. Joseph Schwartzman.
One may become a Donor for
ten dollars; a sponsor for twenty-
five, and an Angel for fifty
dollars. Reservations can be
made by calling Mrs. Philip
Levetan, ME. 6-3704. A cordial
invitation is extended by Mrs.
Harry Robkin, president, to

of a daughter, Judy Ida, on
Sunday, November 15. Mrs. Hur
tig, the former Karen Schiftan,
is a member of The Southern
Israelite Staff. Maternal grand

and Mrs. Hans Hurtig of Israel.

506 Decatur St., S. E., with a
special “Back to Life Sale.”
Because of serious illness, Mr.
Grant was forced out of busi
ness for several months. To cele
brate his recovery, he is offer
ing “fantastic values on all mer
chandise in stock.”
Mr. Grant has had 58 years’
experience in the making of fine
furniture. His company presents
such varied services at his shop
as rcupholstering, refinishing of
sofa, chairs and chests, cabinet
making and decorator fabrics—
“all at reasonable cost.”
Because Rose Custom Built
Furniture Co. is located in the
low-rental district, he announced,
“we are able to skip the middle
man profits and pass on these
savings in cost to our custom
ers."
Furniture constructed to the
design and taste of individual
homeowners is the specialty of
the company. Several articles of
furniture made in the Atlanta
shop along modern lines are
now in use in at least one home
in Israel.
Mr. Grant, who has disting
uished himself as a communal
leader in New York, where he
formerly lived, and in Atlanta,
is known nationally as a manu
facturer of fine furniture.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abra
ham Lawrence Karp, became
the bride of Sidney I. Katz, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Katz of
Rochester, N. Y., Oct. 31, at the
DeSoto Hotel. Rabbi Solomon
Stands performed the cere
mony.
The bridegroom’s father was
his best man. Usher-groomsmen
were Martin L. Karp, brother of
the bride, Daniel J Zarem, Her
man Friedman and Marvin Less
er.
Mrs. Martin L. Karp was ma
tron of honor. Ann Solomon
kept the bride’s book.
A reception was held in the
Gold Room.
The couple left for a honey
moon trip to Jamaica, B. W. On
their return they will make
their home in New York City.

SAVANNAH — Mr. and Mrs.
Abraham Rumaner of Syracuse,
N. Y., announce the engagement
of their daughter, Evelyn Lois,
to Arnold Joseph Cohen, son of
Dr. and Mrs. S. H. Cohen of
Savannah.
Miss Rumaner is a graduate
of Nottingham High School in
Syracuse. She is presently em
ployed as secretary by the
Genessee Real Estate Company.
Mr. Cohen is a graduate of
Savannah High School and at
tended Armstrong College. He
is a senior at Georgia Tech
where he is majoring in Indus
trial Management and is a mem
ber of the Phi Epsilon Pi Fra
ternity.
A late December wedding is
planned.
