Elects Officers
Mrs. William Longwater has
been elected president of the
Atlanta City of Hope Auxiliary
for the coming year.
Other newly elected officers

Adult Group Elects
New Officers
The Ahavath Achim Synago
gue Adult Study Group has
completed its 1959-60 year of
programs, which included talks
by specialists and leaders in
many fields and professions, in
cluding newspaper editors and
publishers, doctors, school offi
cials ahd authorities on both
the local and state level, religi
ous leaders and teachers, missile
and jet aircraft designers and
planners, welfare and social ex
perts, the Atlanta Police chief
and his assistant
The programming was direct
ed by Emanuel Gluck, the chair
man, Mrs. Ben Tbhler secretary,
assisted by Rabbi Harry H. Ep
stein, the founder and director
of the Aault Group and the Con
gregation’s spiritual leader.
At a recent meeting, the Adult
OroAp members elected new
officers for the coming season of
1960-61 :• Alexander Resin as
chairman, Norman Krasner as
vice chairman and Mias Sherry
Gail Krasher as secretary.
The new officers will be In
stalled during the first meeting
of the 1960-61 session in Sep
tember with the reopening of
the next Religious School' term
of Ahavath Achim Synagogue
by Rabbi Epstein.

SOLOMON-FRIEDMAN HASKINS-RUBIN
SAVANNAH—Jan Hughs Sol
omon. daughter of Mr. and Mrs
Arthur Wellesley Solomon, Jr.,
became the bride of Leonard
Friedman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Friedman of Augusta, on
June 5. at Wellesley Manor, the
home of the bride’s grandfather.

ball’s Point Rabbi Solomon F.
Starrels performed the cere
mony.
Mrs. Lee J. Meyer of Gaines
ville. Fla. was the matron of
honor. Gerald Siegel of Colunr-
bus was the best man.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held at Wellesley
Manor.
HITE-JAYE
Rochelle Hite, daughter of Mr.
and Mr*. Irving Hite of Elberton,
Ga., became the bride of Mur
ray Jaye of New York, June 12,
at a double-ring ceremony in the
Chapel at the Ahavath Achim
Synagogue in Atlanta. Rabbi
Harry H. Epstein performed the
ceremony.
Faye Hite, sister, of the bride,
was maid of honor, and Sam
Jaye, brother of the groom,
served as best man.
After the ceremony the bride’s
parents entertained at a lunch
eon, after which the newly-weds
left on a wedding trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Jaye will make
their home in Champaign, III,
where they both plan to resume
studies at the University of
Illinois.
SCHARFMAN-MINSK
Miss Sheila Lois Scharftnan,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mose
Scharftnan, of Macon, became
the bride of Donald Minsk, son
of Mrs. Harry Minsk of Atlanta
and the late Mr. Minsk on Sun
day, June 12, in a garden cere
mony at the home of the bride’s
parents on Oakcliff Road, Mac
on. Music was presented by
Harold Fagan, of Boston, Mass.,
uncle of the bride.
Best man ftrir the groom was
his brother, Malcolm Minsk of
Atlanta. Julian Scharftnan, bro
ther of the bride, and Stuart
Eizenstat, Atlanta, cousin of the
groom, were ushers.
The bride was attended by
her sister, Miss Elaine Scharf-
man, as maid of honor.
Following the ceremony the
bride’s parents entertained at
a luncheon in the garden honor

Later the couple left on a
honeymoon ..trip to Williamsburg,
Va., after which they will make
their home in Atlanta.
The bride is a graduate of
Brandeis University class of
1960. Mr. Minsk was graduated
from Emory University ana is
now a Certified Public Account
ant with the firm of Bimbrey
and Minsk, of Atlanta.
MACON—Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Haskins announce the marriage

to Abram M. Rubin, son of Mr
and Mrs. Irving Rubin, of Sa
vannah. in November. 1999, at
Newberry. S. C.
Mrs. Rubin is a graduate of
A. L. Miller High School and
attended the University of
Georgia where she was a mem
ber of Delta Phi Epsilon soror
ity.
Mr. Rubin, the grandson of
Mrs. Abram Sadler and the late
Mr. Sadler of Savannah, and
Mrs. Samuel Rubin and the late
Mr. Rubin, of Brooklyn, is a
graduate of the University of
Georgia, where he received his
bachelor’s degree in business ad
ministration. He was a member
of Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity.
Mr. and Mrs. Rubin will make
their home in Savannah where
he is associated with A. F. King
Realtors.
The couple were honored in
Macon when the parents of
Mrs. Rubin entertained on Sun
day at their home.

Atlanta announce the marriage
of their daughter, Mrs. Bonita
Carl to Harris Slofin of Savan
nah, on June 17, in the Helen
Massell Chapel at the Temple.
