and Gloria Adler was the bride’s
only attendant. Following the
ceremony, the bride’s parents
entertained at a seated dinner
at the Seville Hotel.
After a wedding trip to Lake
Louise and Banff, Canada, the
couple will live at 2645 South
Bayshore Drive, Miami, Fla.
The bride was graduated from
the University of Mi^mi at com
mencement ceremonies on June
9. She was elected to Who’s Who
in American Colleges and Uni
versities and was a member of
Phi Delta Pi, physical education
honorary fraternity. She waA a
member of the local Hillel chap
ter and was president of her
sorority, Sigma Delta Tau.

ment of their daughter, Esther
Sharon Bryan, to Stanley Ber
nard Lyss, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Lyss of St. Louis, Mo.
Miss Bryan is a graduate of
Henry Grady High School in
Atlanta and Washington Univer
sity in St. Louis. A past winner
of the Community Service
Award for Atlanta Jewish
Youth, she is a former member
and president of BBG No. 176.
Graduating in June with a
Bachelor of Science degree in
Special Education she was a
member of the Sigma Delta Tau
sorority. The younger sister of
Bernard Bryan of Atlanta, Miss
Bryan is the granddaughter of
Mrs. Sadie Bryan and the late
Max Bryan and Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Pazol of Atlanta
Mr. Lyss received a bachelor
of arts degree from Harvard
University and recently finished
his second year at Washington
University Medical School. While
at Harvard he lived at the Kir-
land House and was on the
steering committee of the Phillip
Brooks House, a social-ervices
organization. A member of the
Harvard Liberal Union and the
Harvard Zionist Club he was
also chairman of the school’s
Red Cross Blood Drive for two
years. He is the younger bro
ther of Ronald C. Lyss and Dr.
Carl A. Lyss both of St. Louis.
The engagement announce
ment was made on June 9 at a
dinner party held at the home
of the parents of the groom-
elect Mr. and Mrs. Lyss.
An autumn wedding is
planned. The couple will reside
in St. Louis.
AUGUSTA—Leah Ruth Ghit-
ter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Leon Ghitter, become the bride
of Herbert Zarge, son of Mr.
and Mrs. David Zarge of Vine-
land, N.J., June 12, at Adas
Yeshuron Synagogue. Rabbi
Chaim Seiger performed the
ceremony at high noon in Pom-
erance Hall.
Rosalyn Ghittter, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor.
Martin Zarge was best man
and ushers were Leo Ghitter
and Dr. Leonard Wilensky.
Ruth Zarge kept the bride’s
book and Esther Cotts served
the wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Puerto
Rico and the Virgin Islands the
couple will make their home in
Nashville.

Abrams will be the guest speak
er during this weekend’s annual
convention of the Department

ish War Veterans, in Atlanta.

ranged for July 3 and July 4 at
the Riviera Hotel.
Commander Abrams will be
the guest speaker at a banquet
at the Progressive Club Monday
evening.

Film Series
The first of a series of Yiddish
film classics was shown at the
Atlanta Jewish Community Cen
ter last week, opening a special
film program which will con
tinue through August. The pro
gram will present outstanding
films from the Yiddish Theater,
in Yiddish, with English titles.
Last week’s film, “A Brevele
Der Mamen,” directed by Jos
eph Green, starred Lucy and
Misha Gehrman. It is the bio
graphy of a Jewish mother be
ginning in 1912 and unfolding
against a background of 25 years
of Jewish life.
The program at the Center is
open to the public at a cost of
50 cents for members and 75
cents for non-members. Other
films to be presented this sum
mer include: “Laughter Through
Tears,” on July 21; “Mamele,”
on August 25.

USO-JWB PlatiH
July 4 Activities
The Atlanta USO-JWB is go
ing all out to entertain service
men over the coming Fourth of
July weekend.
Plans for the weekend include
a USO dance at the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center on
Saturday, July 2, at 8 p.m. The
program will include music by
the Third Army Combo, refresh
ments and entertainment by the
USO “Talenteers.’’ On Sunday,
July 3, the Jewish War Veterans
Post No. 112 and the The Ladies
Auxiliary will host a USO swim
party at North Fulton Park.
Transportation to the park leaves
from the Peachtree Manor Hotel
at 10:30 a.m., Sunday. Mrs.
Georgenne Palmer is in charge
of the day’s activities.
Activities on July 4 also will
include a guided tour through
the Cyclorama, and other points
of interest. The group will leave
from the Peachtree Manor Hotel
where they will assemble for a
brief patriotic service.
