Weinstein Elected District No. 7 Head
DALLAS, TEXAS — Hyman
Weinstein, Bessemer, Ala., was
elected president of B’nai B’rith
District Grand Lodge No. 7 at
the 85th Annual Convention held
here recently.
Mr. Weinstein, 45, a retailer
has been affiliated with B*hai
B’rith for 31 years. He began aa
a teenage member of the B’nai
B’rith Youth Organization and
last year served as District No.
7 first vice president. He suc
ceeds Stanley M. Kaufman of
Dallas as B’nai B’rith District
Seven president. Mr. Weinstein
has served as President of his
local lodge in Bessemer and the
Alabama State Association. In
Bessemer, he has been President
of the B’nai Israel Congregation,
the United Jewish Appeal and
has directed the Israel Bond
Campaign.

Senate confirmed last week the
appointment of Judge Charles
Rosenbaum of Denver as an t
alternate member of th^ United
States delegation to the United
Nations General Assembly ses
sion which will begin in Sep
tember.
Judge Rosenbaum has served
as president of the Allied Jew
ish Community Council of Den
ver, district grand lodge presi
dent of B’nai B’rith and as BMG
synagogue leader. In 1957, he
was named by President Eisen
hower to represent the United
States at the Intergovernmental
Committee for European Migra
tion at Geneva

ment ruling issued last week.
The Lark is now being assem
bled by the Kaiser-Frazer plant
at Haifa in place of the French
Renault Dauphine, since , the
French firm withdrew its Israeli
franchise in deference to the
Arab League’s anti-Israeli eco
nomic boycott.
Of the total retail price for the
Lark to purchasers in this coun
try, the seller will receive 6,000
pounds ($3,360) the remainder
of $2,774 going to the govern
ment in/ the ofrm of excise
taxes.
