SAVANNAH Mrs Maidii-
Bailey Extrowich, 66, died Aug
ust 14. Funeral services were
held August 15 at Sipple’s Mor
tuary. Rabbi S. E. Starrels offi
ciated. Interment was in Bono-
venture Cemetery.
A Savannah resident most of
her life, she was a member of
Temple' Mtckve Israel and The
Sisterhood.
Surviving are her husband,
Julius M. Extrowich; a daughter,
Mrs. William M. Rosenthal of
Akron; two sisters, Mrs. T. Ai
thur Wilson and Mrs. Edward
Sipple, both of Savannah; two
grandsons and a number of nieces
and a nephew.

York City

Leonard Ungar of Savannah and
Mrs. Hyman Leventhal of Kings
ton, N. Y.; a brother, Sam Kahn
of Brooklyn; several nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. Louis Rosenberg
Mrs. Louis Rosenberg. 55, died
September 6. Funeral services
were held at Blanchard’s Chapel,
Sept. 7. Rabbi Sydney K. Moss-
man officiated. Interment was in
Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Rosenberg, the former
Fannye Rose Dwoskin, was a
member of Shearith Israel Con
gregation
Surviving are her husband;
two sons, Allan J. Rosenberg,
Atlanta, and Herbert N. Rosen
berg, Receda, Calif.; three bro
thers, Harry, Oscar and Nathan
Dwoskin, and two sisters, Mrs.
Fred Moss and Mrs. Frieda
Burke, all df Atlanta.

Brazil Bans Broadcast
of Record Containing
Nazi Speeches
- RIO DE JANEIRO, (JTA) —
The broadcast of a record en
titled "Hitler’s Hell,” which
claims it “exposes” the iniquities
of the Nazi regime, was banned
from the Brazilian radio and
television networks last week in
an order issued by the govem-

According to the censor, the
record contains speeches by
Hitler, Goebbels, and other top
Nazis, as well as aural repro
duction of Hitlerian marches. A
narration was arranged for the
record here in Portuguese. Ori
ginally the record was produced
in the United States.

Emanuel Goldstein of New
York, father of Mrs. James Lieb-
erman of Atlanta, died in .Jeru
salem, September 1.

announced appointment of Mrs
Sylvia Held as executive secre
tary.
Mrs Held received her educa
tion at New York University.
Before moving to Atlanta, she
resided in Birmingham for 19
years, where she took an active
part in community affairs For
the past six years, she was sec
retary to Rabbi Abraham J.
Mesch, spiritual leader of Tem
ple Beth El of Birmingham, and
office secretary of that Congre
gation.
Mrs. Held was a volunteer
worker in Red Cross during the
war years; is a past president
of the Birmingham Chapter of
Hadassah, and actively partici
pated in the Sisterhood of Tem
ple Beth-El and the United Jew
ish Fund.

Greene Hornstein, 68, died Au
gust 29. Funeral services were
held August 30 at Sipple’s Mor
tuary. Rabbi A. I. Rosenberg
officiated. Interment was in

A native of London, England,
Mrs. Hornstein had lived in Sa
vannah for 45 years.
Surviving are a son, Albert I.
Hornstein; three sisters, Mrs.
Edith Fodor of Savannah, Mrs.
Lillian Golderman of Ocala, Fla.,
and Mrs. George Nagley of Mon
treal, Canada; two brothers, Bert
Green of Savannah and Leslie
Green of Montreal; a number of
nieces and nephews.

Johnny Hamby, both of Seneca;
five sisters, Mrs. Marie Maxie,

Myer Wise
CHATTANOOGA—Myer Wise,
63, retired merchant and veteran
of World War 1, died Aug. 20
in Veterans Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Wise lived at 512 S. German
town Road, Chattanooga. Inter
ment was in Sharai Zion Ceme
tery \n Chattanooga.
Mr. Wise was a member of
Beth Sholom Congregation, the
Farband and the American Le
gion.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Mollie Wise; three daughters,
Mrs. Sid Gottler, Mrs. Herman
Beck and Mrs. Norman Kinsler,
all of Atlanta; son, Dr. Gerald
Prosterman, Memphis; sister,
Mrs. M. L. Gill, Chattanooga;
two brothers, J. L. Wise, Chatta
nooga and Irving Wise, Chicago;
11 grandchildren and 4 nieces.

Announces
that due to increase in membership and limitation
:n seating, the congregation wll not be able to ac
commodate guests and visitors for the High Holiday
services during Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur as
has been the custom during the past 48 years. u
Seating for all members has been reserved arid
marked. There will be a number of seats to accom- ^
modate some guests and visitors. However such
seats will be reserved for non-members who make
arrangements by purchasing seat tickets.
Charges for such seat tickets for a man is $20,
which will include a seat for his wife. For single
women and widows, the charge is $10.
Guests and visitors who are not members are re
quested to obtain seat tickets in advance, but not
later than Wednesday evening, •Sept. 21, to avoid
any embarrassment by being refused admission into
the Synagogue.
Rosh Hashonah services will start Wednesday
evening, Sept 21, at 6 o’clock
