Election of I860
In Chattanooga
It may be a little late for cur
rent voters to do anything about
it, but the Women’s Auxiliary of
the Chattanooga Jewish Com
munity Center will get the low-
down on the presidential election
of I860 on Tuesday, Sept 20.
That’s the one Abraham Lin
coln won—thus becoming the
first Republican president in the
nation's history.
Detailing highlights of that
ejection—and comparing it with
today’s Nixon-Kennedy race —
will be Norman Shavin, Sunday
editor of The Atlanta Journal-
Constitution.
Mr. Shavin will base his re
marks on material researched for
“The Atlanta Century,” the week
ly Civil War series which he
originated for the weekly Journ
al-Constitution.
His speech will be the feature
of the noon luncheon at the
Chattanooga Jewish Community
Center.
