Miss Vivian Harris of Atlanta
is undergoing treatment at Pied
mont Hospital as a result of re
cent accident injuries. She is
able to have visitors, her friends
will be glad to learn.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Auerbach of
Atlanta are visiting in New
York, Long Island and Atlantic
City. They will attend the Bar
Mitzvah of Michael Berger, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Berger,
formerly of Atlanta. Mrs. Berger
is the former Florence Acker
man. Mr. and Mrs. Auerbach
will attend a wedding in Long
Island and the Mizrachi Conven
tion in Atlantic City.

Rabbi Abraham Ohrenstein has
announced that Congregation
Beth El, starting October 15, will
have regularly every Saturday
morning at 9 a.in. a United Syna
gogue Youth and Adult Service
to be followed at 10:30 a.m. by
a Junior Congregation Sabbath
Morning Service.
These youth activities are part
of Beth El’s Religious School
educational program.
Congregation Beth El is con
tinuing the regular Friday night
services, at 8:30 p.m. and regu
lar Sunday morning services dt
8:30 a.m., to be followed by a
breakfast.
Alt these services take place
at Beth El Building at 1262 Uni
versity Drive, N.E. Members and
friends of the congregation are

Kendall Weisiger
Honored by Zionists
Among the first actions of the
year of the Atlanta Zionist
Council was a unanimous vote
to plant a group of trees in Is
rael in memory of Kendall
Weisiger, one of the pioneer
members of the American Chris-
tion Palestine Committee. Mr.
Weisiger, it will be remembered,
long evidenced a special regard
for Israel and not only helped
in building up a favorable cli
mate of public opinion for that
country since its incipiency, but
frequently participated in At
lanta campaigns of the Welfare
Fund and Bonds for Israel.
A Speakers Buijeau of the
Council has now been activated
and is available 4n the city to
clubs and organizations wishing
an interpretation of Israel and
the Zionist movement. It may be
reached through the Council’s
Chairman, Dave Alterman, TR.

SPICED PEACH CRISP . . . Place 9 canned peach halves, drained.
In the bottom of an 8” square baking dLsh; sprinkle with Vi tsp. cin
namon, Vi tap. ground cloves and Vi tsp. nutryeg which have been
mixed together. For the topping, combine V6 cup quick Quaker or
Mother’s Oats, uncooked, */\ cup enriched flour, *4 tsp. salt, V4 cup
brown sugar; and 1/3 cup melted butter or margarine and Yi cup
chopped nutmeats; toss mixture together with a fork. Sprinkle over
peaches. Bake in moderate over (375 degree F.) 30 minutes. Serve
warm with whipped cream, if desired.

Plays Oct. 23
Les Brown and his “Band of
Renown," voted the top dance
band in the country by “Down-
beat,” "Metronome,” "Billboard”
magazines and the National Ball
room Operators Association, will
play an engagement at the Pro-
gresssive Club, Sunday, Oct. 23,
8:30 to 12:30 p.m. The band plays
under the joint sponsorship of
the Beth Jacob Sisterhood and
Men’s Club who have arranged
for the use of the dining Voom
of the club.
The Les Brown band has
flown more miles and played
more college dates in various
parts of the country than any
other band in the history of the
band business. Les Brown work
ed 11 years with Bob Hope and
in September, 1959, started with
Steve Allen. He is unique in the
music fjeld having graduated
from Ithaca Conservatory of
Music, New York Military Aca
demy and Duke University,
where he started in the college
