Enjoyed the many comments
overheard during the intermis
sion of the premiere showing of
Exodus at the Center Theater al
most as much as we enjoyed the
movie. Principal comment was
about the comparison to the
book. There was a wide variety
talent from Tampa and also some
from St. Petersburg. Direction is
by a professional from New
York. Acts consist of dancing,
singing and comedy skits. Ar
rangements have been made for
many door prizes to be given
away.
Tickets, which are $1.50 and
$2.00, can be purchased at the
door or from the Beth Israel of
fice at 2111 Swann Avenue. Res
ervations can be made by phon

about whether some important
parts in the book were omitted
from the picture. At a press
luncheon we attended a few
weeks ago we participated in a
telephone interview with Otto
Preminger, the producer and di
rector of Exodus. In answer to a
question about the book and the
movie, he mentioned that this
was one of the most difficult
tasks, determining what to film
and what to omit.
The movie, we felt was done
very well, and although the
first part starts off slowly, the
action picks up steadily. Some
folks felt that some parts con
cerning remarks about Jews
were a bit strong, we thought
the subject was handled very
well. For a fine movie about the
birth of Israel as a Jewish home
land which provides a fine eve
ning’s entertainment, don’t miss
Exodus.
