provisions against racial and re
ligious discrimination in housing.
The ban applies in the renting
of apartments in buildings con
taining more than six units. La
bor Minister Charles Delay pres
ented a companion measure to
change the name of the Ontario
Anti - Discrimination Commission
to the Ontario Human Rights
Commission.
In introducing the measure, the
Premier said that the Govern
ment “should not interfere with
the rights of people to choose
their friends and to operate their
own homes as they see fit. Ac
cordingly, we have confined this
legislation, insofar as apartments
are concerned, to the type of ac
commodation which can really be
termed public accommodation.
In praising the legislation, the
Canadian Jewish Congress com
mended the Ontario Government
“on this move towards a higher
concept of human and social re
lations and greet it as part of the
structure of such legislation that
has been built up in the last
number of years.”

Dear Friends:
FOR thirty-five hundred years, the Children of
Israel have been re-telling the Passover story, re
living the Scriptural account of man’s first triumph
over slavery, reaffirming man’s G-d-given right to
freedom.
THROUGH the centuries, the story of Passover has
also stood for family, for warmth, for children, for
the home and all the goodness therein.
THIS PASSOVER, as you and your loved ones sit
down to the Seder table, it is our prayer and hope
that, in keeping with the Message of the Holiday,
you will continue to reap the blessings of freedom,
that you will continue to enjoy the gift of peace and
serenity in your home.
