The Ben Brith bowlers really
bombed the bark off the maples
at Ten Pin Lanes, last Thursday
night. Three bowlers soared over
the charmed 000 mark and one
just missed it by a single pin.
Leading the parade was Dave
Cohen as he powered to a beauti
ful 200-211-202-613. A 7-10 split
in the last frame of his last game
prevented Dave from possibly
setting a new league high series.
Following close on Dave's
heels, Herm Lerner turned in a
terrific 212-201-198-611. Herm
blew a spare in the last frame
of his last game to keep him out
Of the 620’s.
Nobody would have thought
that A1 Nastir had not thrown
a bowling ball for nine weeks if
they were watching him last
Thursday. A1 tossed in a honey
of a series as he totaled 601 with
an excellent 235 middle game.
Eddie Jacobson with games of
187-204-208 had to settle for a
very pretty 599 series.
Crown Realty, led by Morty
Lasher’s almost record breaking
244 singleton, set a new league
high team single game as they
combined to roll a tremendous
918 score.
Phil Horowitz had his best
night of the year as he turned in
an excellent 539 combo with a
top singleton of 225.
Other notable scores rolled in
the past two weeks were: Jules
Jacobs 574-206, Charley Tenen-
baum 554-216, Shelldon Rothman
554-201, A1 Levy 549-201, Milt
Hershenson 549-213, Sid Shapiro
546, Dave Haber 542-212, Bill
Wolfson 540 and Hy Schultz 540.

She was 104 pins over her 145
average.
Ruth Moed also eclipsed the
500 mark as she came in with a
very excellent 197-167-155-519.
Ruth was high over average for
the night as she was 117 pins
over her 134 average.
Bea Green went 104 pins over
her 122 average with a very nice
470 including a terrific 201 sin
gleton and Fay Green went 88
pins over her 127 average with a
nice 460 series. She set a new
league high individual single
game as she rolled a tremendous
216.
Other scores of note were
bowled by: Hannah Person 483-
170, Bev Jacobs 471-164, Lenore
Bernstein 460-166, Gloria Dia
mond 425-174 and Rose Halprin
423.
Edith Poll and Rita Gorman
won the league doubles cham
pionship as they combined for a
total of 155 pins over average.
Split Department: Ruth Moed
converted the very rough 6-7-10,
Dubby Spivack turned in the 4-
10, Shirley Nastir and Muriel
Cooperman each picked up the
5-7 and Elaine Granet and Mir
iam Zwick each converted the
5-8-10.
Bobbi Beck has been top keg-
ler for the Hadassah Women for
the past two weeks. Last week
Bobbi came within 15 pins of the
high three game record as she
bowled a tremendous 553 with
games of 206-187-160. The pre
vious week she rolled an excel
lent 519 combo with a top game
of 194.
Adeline Thorpe bowled beauti
fully as she went 101 pins over
her 105 average with a 416 clus
ter, and Thelma Gilbert was 64
pins over her average with a fine
418 series and a high game of
162.
Other fine scores were turned
in by: Sally Pincus 482-166 and
456-170, Charlotte Brusky 461-
173, Dotty Goldblatt 434, Estelle
Marsh 412, Anita Kleinfeld 410
and Estelle Weinstein 406.
The epidemic of high scores
has carried into the Early Bird
League as the girls rattled the
maples to a merry tune.
Leading the way was Sally
Pincus who is on another top
scoring kick. Sally came through
with a tremendous 557 total with
games of 189-202-166. The pre
vious week she rolled a nice 477
with a high game of 179.
Second spot went to Jackie
Gordon as she also soared over
the 500 mark with a terrific 524
series and a high game of 217.
Her 217 and Sally Pincus’s 557
are both new records for the
league.
Sylvia Golden rolled 105 pins
over her 107 average as she came
in with a nice 426 and Anita
Jonas went 96 pins over her 124
average with an excellent 488
combo.
Beverly Jacobs was the third
bowler in the league to eclipse
the coveted 500 mark as she
bowled a brilliant 501 series with
a high game of 176.
Other notable scores were
rolled by: Estejle Weinstein 489-
185 and 468-169, Dotty Goldblatt
487-192 and 453, Lil Grau 480-
169 and 474-187, Edith Poll 463-
172, Fran Horowitz 447-162,
Estelle Marsh 444, Jean Tenen-

member of our synagogue. Many,

niversary. They were married
right here in Pensacola and to
our knowledge are our synago
gue’s longest-wed couple. They
have another honor. They have
fnore grandchildren than any
other couple in our community.
Fifteen! May they continue to
have “nachus” from them.
Mr. and Mrs. Sig Solomon upon
the association of their son, Mac,
with the Wall Street Journal.
Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Soclof
upon becoming the first and only
great-grandparents at our syna
gogue. Their granddaughter, the
former Sandra Fish, lives in
Miami Beach with her husband
and daughter.
B’nai Israel Sisterhood held its
Purim Costume Ball on March 4
with Mrs. Elliot Winograd as
Queen Esther and Stanley Boch-
ner as King Ahasuerus. Prince
and Princess were Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Goldenberg. Our Rebetzin
made a most beautiful Queen
and Stanley a most stately king.
Sam Rabin was master-of-cere-
monies of the floor show. Caro
lyn Kirsch and Henry Martinez
presented a Pas de Deux and
proved to be talented dancers. A
local music school gave selec
tions and surprised everyone
Slott turned in the 4-5-7 and
Thelma Gilbert converted the
5-6-10.
Adeline Gilson topped the Fri
day Matinee League with a glit
tering 528 series with games of
189-186-153.
Second spot went to Lenore
Bernstein as she powered her
way to 505 total with a high
single game of 200.
Sally Pincus took third honors
with another 500 plus series as
she turned in a 502 combo and
a high game of 202. The previous
week she bowled an excellent 494
cluster with games of 169-169-
156.
Other honorable mention
scores were: Carolyn Fyvolent
456-170, Jean Tenenbaum 435
and Shirley Nastir 434-178.
Shirley Nestir converted the
5-8-10 split.
Garry Nadler led the way in the
United Synagogue Youth League
with an even 500 and a high
game of 176. His brother Harry
came in for second honors as he
rolled 461-162 and Donnie Green
threw in a 437 total with a high
game of 173.
Joyce Smith was tops for the
girls with a 395-148 and Bev
Brunswick was second with a
360 combo.
Paula Granet turned in the 5-
10 split.
Bowling in the St. Petersburg
City Tourney, Herm Lerner and
Dave Weinfeld distinguished
themselves in the doubles. Herm
tossed in a 012 actual count and
Dave chipped in with a nice
528. These scores along with
their handicap gate thefli a grand
total of 1300 which was good
enough for second place.

Dancing was enjoyed and break
fast was served with Homant-
ashen, of course.
Many adults and children at
tended the reading of the Megil-
lah on March 1. The children
were amply supplied with grog-
gers. Mrs. Sara Schwartzberg
and Mrs. I. Silverman supplied
everyone with delicious Homant-
ashen and other goodies.

B’shvat. And to I. Silverman for
his kind gesture in enabling the
children to have a more joyous
Purim carnival.

and Jerry Willenzik. Parents

Marvin Kaiman and Mrs, Harry
Fish, gave much time in planning
and construction of the booths.
