The week of the ob servance will be April 1-8, Need License To Build Succoth In London Borough LONDON, (JTA) — An order prohibiting the erection of Suc- cot without obtaining a license was issued here by the Borough Council of Hackeny, a district in East London. The borough’s official Civic News carried a notice declaring “these small buildings are often highly decorative, but can be dangerous if not well designed and erected. Before temporary structures can be erected, per mission should be obtained from the Town Hall.” Rabbi Simon M. Lehman, spiritual leader of the Hackney Synagogue, declared that he could not see how “the Council can stop us from building Succot in our gardens.” He added that the Council might note the fact that “60 to 70 percent of Hack ney’s voters are Jewish.
