It is their earnest hope that the opening of the FaU program of the Center will contribute to the tradition of this joyful season and bring a greater measure of satisfaction and enrichment of . Jewish living to every home. Atlanta Jewish Community Center I Report An Interview by ALFRED SEGAL I am sitting in my living room with my wife and we bring up Rosh Hashonah for conversation . . . “Oh,” I exclaim, Rosh Ha shonah! Another Jewish year here, and another gone! How quick they come and go for peo ple like us who have been on the earth such a long time! The older the life, the faster the years run.” Thus my wife and I discuss Rosh Hashonah until my eyes drooped and all at once I’m dreaming. And who do I see in my dream? The latest Rosh Ha shonah stands before me. And I’m interviewing Rosh Hashonah, as reporter. I say to Rosh Ha shonah: “Why don’t the years slow up a bit for us old-timers? Please, let us hang around awhile longer. There’s still so much for us to see and feel . . . but a year runs away so fast at my time of life. Yes, my dear Rosh Hashon ah, I myself would like to hang on long enough to see and feel a better world than the one we all have to suffer now. Anyway, for the sake of my grandchildren, let’s try to make a good, new world which lives by the high ideals which are of Rosh Hashon ah!” Thus, in my interview. I speak up to the latest Rosh Hashonah and Rosh Hashonah replies: “Yes, Segal, you’re quite right! We Rosh Hashonahs feel as you do about the world which in this season I’m obliged to enter. In fact, as the new Rosh Hashonah Fve been looking around to see what kind otf world I’m coming into. Is it any better world than the other Rosh Hashonahs have had to take in all the times?” Well, I try to comfort Rosh Hashonah, though I myself don’t feel at all happy about what’s going on in the world. I don’t admire at all those who're hoping to get us up to the moon; but by way of comfort I exclaim, “Oh, dear Rosh Hashonah, haven’t you heard about those new, wonder ful things going on in the world?” “What do you mean when you say new and wonderful?” Rosh Hashonah asks. “Haven’t you heard?” I ex claim. "Haven’t you heard that we down here are all set to go all the way up to the moon? And sure enough we’ll be getting there, all the way up from the earth! Oh, what a wonderful Rosh Hashonah it will be for all of us when that happens! Yes, a Rosh Hashonah that goes all the way up to the moon!” But Rosh Hashonah laughs at me, saying, “Oh, I didn’t know you were such a fool, even though you keep on writing a column. Yes, I understand they’re spending all those billions to get to the moon when there’s so much (Continued on page 16) iheelings * Townes' Mop Company Townes’ Mops, Brooms, Mop Heads and Roofers Mops TR 6-0888 661 Greenwood Ave., N.E.
