Prominent among those coming

two supper jamborees were held
—one at the Mayfair Club for
young marrieds and young adults,
and one at Lake Renie for all
other adults.
On Sunday, there were
brunches, sight-seeing and golf
ing. The highlight of the week
end took place on Sunday eve

Stresses Need
For Peace
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—An ap
peal to Israel, and to all nations
to employ “most powerful re
solve” in the next year to in
sure peace throughout the world
“and especially in the Middle
East,” was voiced here Sunday
by President Izhak Ben-Zvi in
his annual New Year message.
In a special “5722 Rosh Ha-
shonah” addreessed to all Is
raelis, to Jews in all other coun
tries, and to the world at large,
the Israeli Presidennt expressed
his wishes for a New Year of
"well-being and prosperity.” He
summarzied Israel’s accomplish
ments in the economic and social
fields in the past year, referred
in his message to the increase in
immigration, and recalled that
“the machinations of our adver
saries are unending.”
“They do not cease,” he point
ed out, “at any and every oppor
tunity, to proclaim a war of ex
tinction upon the State of Israel
and upon its people.” He con
cluded his message by stating:
“We must not be blind to the
dark clouds that gather in the
skies of international politics in
all five Continents, in the East
and in the West. Only by virtue
of the most powerful resolve tc
strengthen peace against the evil
appetities of war can we hope to
insure peace between nation and
nation, between country and
country all over the globe, and
especially in the Middle East,
where we belong. May it be the
will of the Almighty to grant
our prayer for the Peace of Israel
and a peace of Truth between
nations everywhere on earth.”
