Mrs. Buchalter was a native of
Russia. She came to the United
States in the IMS’s and Hved
for a while in Chicago. In the
1830's, she and her husband, the
late Mr. Paul Buchalter came to
Atlanta. She waa a member of
Shearlth Israel Synagogue, Miz-
rachi Women and Hadassah.
In 1980, after the death of her
husband, she moved to Israel
where she had been active as a
member of the Women’s Inter
national Zionist Organization.

to Atlanta having practiced for
over twelve years in Long Island,
New York.
While In practice in New York,
Dr. Siegler was a staff member
of the Foot Clinics of New York,
podiatrist for the outpatient ser
vice of the Veterans Administra
tion, member of the New York
State Workmen’s Compensation
panel, and member of the New
York State Podiatry Society as
wall aa the American Podiatry
Association.
In addition to the many of
fices held, Dr. Siegler now holds
the office of president elect of
the American College of Foot
Orthopedists for the U.S. Dr.
Siegler holds membership in the
Academy of Podiatry, American
Podiatry Concil, A fellow in the
American College of Foot Ortho
pedists, a member ef the Jewish
War Veterans, and B’nai B’rith
of New York, and had been a
Board of Trustee and Editor of
the Synagogue Bulletin in Long
Island, N.Y.
Dr. Siegler attained his pre
medical training at Brooklyn
College, and graduated from
Long Island University, College
of Podiatry with the degree, of
Doctor of Podiatry. He is also
a 32-degree Mason, as well as a
member of the Shrine Temple.
He served with the Medical Air
Force in North Africa.
Isidore Domashifsky
Isidore Domashifsky, 79, of
Atlanta, died September 19 in
New York. Funeral services
were held November 20 at
Hirsch’s Funeral Home, Bronx,
N.Y.
Mr. Domashifsky was a native
of New York and had lived in
Atlanta more than three years.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Belle Kalifsky and Mrs.
Sophie Siegel, both of Atlanta,
and Mrs. Ethel Freeman of New
York.

SAVANNAH —Ralph Elsinger
of New York City, died Novem
ber 9 in New York after a long
illness.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Eva Gazan Elsinger, form
erly of Savannah.
Mrs. Jack Karr
Mrs. Jack L. Karr, 58, of At
lanta, died November 14. Funer
al services were held November
16 at Blanchard’s Chapel. Rabbi
Harry H. Epstein and Cantor
Joseph Schwartzman officiated.
Interment was in Greenwood
Cemetery.
Born near Kiev, Russia, she
was the former Mona Massing.
She came to this country 40 years
ago and had live in Atlanta 17
years. She was a member of Ha
dassah, Mizrachi Women, and
Progressive Club.
Surviving are her husband; a
daughter, Mrs. Raymond H. Reis-
man, Atlanta; a sister, Miss Rose
Massing, Cleveland; and two bro
thers, Bernard Massing and Har
ry Massing, both of Cleveland.
Meyer J. Rhode
Meyer J. Rhode, 43, of Atlanta,
died November 17. Funeral serv
ices were held November 19, at
Blanchard’s Chapel. Rabbi Eman
uel Feldman officiated. Inter
ment was in Greenwood Ceme
tery.
Mr. Rhode was a member of
the Beth Jacob Synagogue, Ful
ton Masonic Lodge, Lions Club
and the Jewish War Veterans,
Atlanta Post 112. He was a sales
man for Almar Manufacturing
Co.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Joan Frankenstine;
daughter, Ml« Shari Rhode and
a son, George Rhode, all of At
lanta.

inaugurated the All-Day Shabbat
Program for children of pre or
post Bar/Bas Mitzvah age on
Saturday, Nov. 18, where they
will provide the children with a
rich, enjoyable and inspiring pro
gram throughout the day.

Chief Visits Atlanta;
Consul Activities
Harry Zindler, director of the
Israel Government Information
Services, spent three days in At
lanta recently.
He lectured to student groups
at Georgia Tech and Atlanta
University, held a press confer
ence, and appeared on Radio
and Television. He was here on
a speaking tour which includes
the Universities and Colleges in
the Southeastern United States.
Mr. Zinder was honored at a re
ception held by the Consul of Is
rael and Mrs. Zeev Z. Dover.
Mr. Zeev Z. Dover, the Consul
of Israel, concluded a three-day
visit to Baton Rouge and New
Orleans, La., where he met with
Gov. Jimmie Davis, addressed
the Faculty and students of
L.S.U. and civic groups, estab
lished contacts with the Jewish
leadership in New Orleans, and
met with civic and business lead
ers there.
Last week Mr. Dover left for
Little Rock, Arkansas, where he
met with Gov. Orval Faubus,
and was the guest of Little Rock
University. He also addressed
civic groups in Little Rock and
met with the Jewish community.
The Vice Consul, Yehoshua
Trigor, has completed two tours
of lectures on behalf of the
United Jewish Appeal. He was
the guest speaker at the UJA
Regional Conference in White-
ville, N.C., and waa the princi
pal speaker at the UJA dinner in
Dothan, Ala. Mr. Trigor also met
with representatives of the press
and made radio and television
appearances.
SAVANNAH NEWS
Savannah Hebrew School’s
PTA recently sponsored a card
party at the Jewish Educational
alliance. The proceeds will be
used to support the Hebrew
School Library.
Dr. Joseph Cassius, assistant
professor of psychology at Arm
strong College, reviewed
"Thought Reform and Totalism,”
at the home of Rabbi and Mrs.
David Raab. This waa the second
of a series of book reviews spon
sored by the Sisterhood of Con
gregation Agudath Achim.
The Aviv Theatre of Dance
and Song performed recently at
the Jewish Educational Alliance
as part of the Alliance’s 50th an
niversary series of their Concert,
Lecture and Forum Program.
The Women’s Club of the JEA
honored new members recently
at the Alliance, at which time a
panel discussion on community
current interest was held.
Ben Zion Goldberg, writer
and lecturer, who has made three
recent trips to the Soviet Union,
spoke at the JEA, on the Jewish
Temple Couples
community in Russia.
Steven Richman, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Richman became
an Eagle Scout at a Court of
Honor at the JEA. He is a mem
ber of Troop 2 and the Order of
The Arrow.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Adler Sr
have returned from a trip to
Europe.
Mr. and Mrs. Katzman of Los
Angeles recently visited Mrs
Katzman’s mother, Mrs. Sam
Portman in Savannah.
Paul Stone, Savannah artist,
was the guest speaker at the
Senior Hadassah Study Group
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Leon Slotin. He discussed the
works of Jewish artists during
the 20th century.
