Third Volume
JERUSALEM, (JTA)Israel of
ficials reported that Adolph
Eichmann has informed one of
the officers of the jail where
he is held that he has com
pleted writing his “Third vol
ume of Memoirs.” The former
Gestapo colonel, awaiting a ver
dict on his trial last summer on
charges of having master-minded
the wartime Nazi slaughter of
6,000,000 European Jewish men,
women and children, told the
jailer that he plans to write
several more volumes.
Two of Eichmann’s guards,
both Oriental Jews, asked to be
relived of the assignment. They
were understood to have told
their superiors that after attend
ing the trial and listening to the
frightful testimony, they could
no longer stand the sight of the
defendant. Their request was
approved.
The verdict of the three-judge
court which heard the trial is
expected to be handed down
starting December 15. However,
the verdict, which is expected to
require six days of presentation,
may be given before that date.
