program will feature the Fourth
Grade Students at the meeting
Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.
“Creating Interest and Motiva
tion in Our Children’’ will be
the theme of the evening, as an
nounced by Mrs. Philip Rosen
blatt, Mrs. Herbert Blechner and
Mrs. Edward Kahn.
A short Civil Defense film will
be presented by Mrs. Eugene
Howard.

Heads Oak Ridge
Nuclear Council
NORMAN, Okla. — Dr. Simon
H. Wender, research professor of
chemistry at Oklahoma Univer
sity, Norman, has been elected to
the highest position on the Coun
cil of the Oak Ridge Institute of
Nuclear Studies.
Dr. Wender, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Wender of Atlanta, is a
graduate of old Boys High and
Emory University, where he was
president of AEPi fraternity. He
had been active in AZA and
Young Judaea. He and his wife
have three children, Joe, Barbara,
and Sheryl. He holds a Ph D. de
gree from the University of
Minnesota. He is a brother of Dr.
Raymond Wender and Mrs. Mary
Helen (Louis) Persh, both of
Washington.
Dr. Wender has been a mem
ber of the Oak Ridge Council for
more than ten years. He was re
cently elected chairman and a
member of the board at the In
stitute’s annual meeting.
The 48-year-old research spe
cialist was elected the first presi
dent of the Plant Phenolies Group
of North America, two months
ago.
The Oak Ridge Institute is a
nonprofit educational corporation
of 28 southern universities which
participates in and supports the
nation’s atomic energy program.

Jacobs-Matz
Mr. and Mrs. Sol D. Jacobs of
Atlanta announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Carol
Lynne Jacobs, to Phillip Ira Matz,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Matz of
Baltimore.
The bride-elect was graduated
from Druid Hills High School.
She served as president of B’nai
B’rith Girls No. 176, and District
Five Contest and Awards chair
man. Miss Jacobs was also chosen
to the Sweetheart Court of Alpha
Epsilon Pi fraternity at Georgia
State College. She attended the
University of Georgia where she
was a member of Delta Phi Ep
silon sorority.
Mr. Matz was graduated from
Forest Park School of Baltimore
and the University of Baltimore.
In his senior year he was presi
dent of the Alpha Omega Pi fra
ternity.
Mr. Matz was president of the
Northern Region District Five,
and also president of the District
association of the Aleph Zadik
Aleph, junior order of B’nai
B’rith. He is a field agent with
the Internal Revenue Service.
Slater-Weiner
Mr and Mrs. William M. Slater
of Atlanta, announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Iris Diane
Slater, to Jules Weiner, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Weiner of
Trenton, N. J.
Miss Slater is the granddaugh
ter of Mrs. Samuel Karesh of
Macon and Atlanta, and the late
Mr. Karesh and Mr. and Mrs.
Max Slater of Newark.
The bride-elect, a graduate of
Henry Grady High School, at
tended the University of Florida,
where she was a member of
Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. She
now attends Georgia State Col
lege, where she will receive her
B.A. degree in May.
Mr. Weiner is the grandson of
H. Weiner and the late Mrs.
Weiner and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Jules Novack of New York.
Mr. Weiner was graduated from
West Orange High School in West
Orange, N. J., and will receive
his bachelor of science degree in
pharmacy from the University of
Florida in June. He was It. master
and pledge master of Alpha Ep
silon Pi fraternity and is a mem
ber of the Mortar and Pestle Stu
dent Branch of the American
Pharmaceutical Association.
The wedding will take place in
June.
Williams-Frushtick
Mrs. William Taft Williams an
nounces the engagement of her
daughter, Helen Virginia Wil
liams, to Howard Eugene Frush-
tick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Frushtick of Jersey City. The
bride-elect is the daughter of the
late Mr. Williams.
Miss Williams was graduated
from the Georgia Baptist Hos
pital School of Nursing and at
tended Georgia State College.
Mr. Frushtick attended George
Washington University in Wash
ington, D. C., where he was a
member of Phi Alpha fraternity.
He is associated with Bobbie
Brooks, Inc., in Minneapolis.
The wedding will be solemn
ized December 17 at the Temple
Zion in Miami.

Miss Marcia Barbara Jacobs,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney
William Jacobs of Atlanta, be
came the bride of Allan Jay
Rosenberg, son of Louis Rosen
berg and the late Mrs. Rosenberg
of Atlanta, on November 26 at the
Ahavath Achim Synagogue.
Rabbi Harry H. Epstein and
Rabbi Sydney K. Mossman per
formed the ceremony.
Herbert Rosenberg of Reseda,
Calif., served as his brother’s best
man. Groomsmen were Steven
Jacobs, brother of the bride, Ju
lius Hyman of Los Angeles, My
ron Dwoskin, William Green and
Jack Rosing all of Atlanta.
Maid-of-honor was Miss Dale
Jacobs, sister of the bride. Brides
maids were Misses Diane Dwo
skin and Michele Dwoskin of At
lanta, Mrs. Howard Guld of Ral
eigh, Miss Sue Ellen Lebos of
Tampa, and Mrs. Herbert Rosen
berg.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held at the syna
gogue. Mrs. Marvin Silver kept
the bride’s book.
After a wedding trip to Ja
maica, the couple will reside at
1138 Woodland Ave., N.E. In At
lanta.
