Hits, Splits, Bowling Bits
by EDDIE SILVERBOARD
AJCC Men’s League
The secret word for last weeks'
bowline date was TURKEY, as
the lien’s Les|ue set a new rec
ord in the Atlanta area by hav
ing M in one night—(it eras
Thanksgiving, and the boys had
an off nite) so we have no scores
to report for you this week. And
if that ain’t disappointing enough
for you. here is more bad news.
I was going to fill this space with
a couple of juicy pieces of gos
sip. plus some terrific rumors
about some well known people
you know, in addition to a
scandal that could blow up the
town, so what happens— Mr. A.
Rosenberg, the Israelite’s
“Adolph, the Red-Haired Main-
Gear,” notifies me to make the
column short this week, on ac
count of he lucked up on some
extra ads. So if you have any
complaints (and you better
have!) don’t call me, dial the Edi
tor and give him hell! (Don’t tell
him your name. Mama, he may
try to prosecute.)
AJCC Bantam League
No game scheduled (except
fowl)—they were hungry, too!
AJCC Women’s League
Since these sweet dolls can eat,
talk, knit, and bowl at the same
time, it would take more than a
holiday to keep them away, (and
some of them wished they would
have stayed home, right, Mrs
Sims?) . . Top bowler of the
week was that pretty Mighty
Mouse, Eleanor Devin, who
leavened the pins for a great
series of 194-13S-172-904—she’s a
terrific competitor who never
gives up . . . Second high was a
pleasant surprise (and a pleasant
gal, too), as Frances Saperstein
rolled a taylor made 147-188-158-
471 series . . Next was a fine
series by Grace Baumrind, a
graceful (aint I sharp today)
149- 144-174-487 . . . Bev Berger
had a steady series of 155-161-
150- 486 (I think she and Estelle
Carl are the two most consistent
bowlers in the league—one way
or the other) . . . Teddy Cohen
looked more like herself with a
145-148-172-465 series ... In high
singles, Shirley Tenenbaum final
ly smiled with a 178 . . . Sara Jo
Goldberg (she always smiles)
had a 173 . . Ditto for Loraine
Shaftel, who is improving every
week, and a 170 for the lovely
Diane Silverboard (it’s Hanukah
time, you know!)
By the way, Adolph, if you get
a package wrapped in gold and
white paper with blue ribbon
around it from the mail-man.
DOUSE IT IN WATER, QUICK!
I just got a phone call from
Mama!
That’s the tenth frame — see
you at the hearing next week!

Women’s Bowling
By WILMA BLOOM
B’nai B’rith Women’s bowling
league got under way with a
terrific turn-out ’for the 1961-82
season. There are twelve 4-girl
teams battling it out with each
other and the pins every Tues
day morning, and they’re really
off to a rousing start.
Top teams at the end of No
vember 23 play, are: tied for 1st
position — Teams No. 10, The
Gibes, and No. 5, The Sparettes.
In second place is team No.
2, Bloom’s Babes, and in third
place is No. 12, The Bowleros.
Top team series scratch is held
by team “Gerry’s Pearls,” with
a rousing 1646.
Top scratch game honors go to
Rachel Galanti with high score
of 190; and she takes it with a
top scratch series, too, with 490.
With handicap, top game honors
go to Irene Felder with 217, and
she’s followed closely by June
Davis’ 215. Irene also copped the
top series with handicap by
chalking up a terrific 579, closely
followed by Bernice Kronick
with a 577.
We’ve had a terrific season so
far, and want to publicly express
our thanks to two of the hardest
working gals I know—to Bar
bara Krinsky for the terrific job
she's doing as chairman, and to
Barbara Koonan for the excell-
