LETTER
to the Editor
Dear Editor:
Because there is an encamp
ment of gypsies in the Atlanta
area as well as a representative
group of Jewish families it oc
curred to me that perhaps a little
notice in THE SOUTHERN IS
RAELITE might inspire some of
the Jewish women whose ances
try stems back to Bessarabia,
which was also a strong baili
wick for the Roumanian gypsies,
to send me any of the gypsy
recipes they may have gained
from interchange.
Any and all information on
such Bessarabian-gypsy foods
and recipes would aid me im
measurably in my research into
this gypsy lore and family foods
traditions.
All this adds much to the
American way of life and I want
to help record some of the cul
ture as a contribution to future
generations ....
I shall send this newspaper the
notice on the publication of the
book when completed ....
Thank you and meanwhile an
ever increasing success to you
and staff and the newspaper
with each succeeding issue.
Yours for better public re
lations,
CHET L. SWITELL
Readers, take it from there.
We’ll forward anymeply to Mr.
Switell in California. Bat we’d
like a carbon of the recipe oar-
selves — for ear columns of
coarse.
—THE EDITOR
He reported his meeting with

dtywide dinner on Jane N. Dur

announced that an interesting
known personality has been in
vited to be Atlanta’s guest on
June 24 and that at this moment
the chances are very good that
she will be able to appear.
Dr. Goldstein reported to the
Steering Committee that as of
December 8 we were 12 percent
ahead of last year in sales al
though more cash is needed be
fore the end of this year. He
commended the rabbis who sup
ported the Bond Drive and also
the chairmen of the synagogue
dinners — Dave Alterman and
Michael Kraft of Ahavath Achim,
Victor Maslia, Charlie Vkunco

tion Or Ve Sholom, and Mr. and
