Israel Agronomist Speaker on Iladassah"s
‘People to People’’ Program January 22
Daniel Hillel, noted Israeli
agronomist, will be the featured
speaker at the Atlanta Chapter
of Ifadassah’s “People To People”
program on Israel at the Mayfair
Club, Monday, Jan. 22.
Dr. Hillel will discuss “The
Negev, Its Challenge and Prom
ise,” drawing on his own first
hand experiences. In 1952, he
helped establish a desert settle
ment in the southern Negev,
where he lived for several years.
He conducted research there
which led to the doctorate he re
ceived from the Hebrew Univer
sity, Dr Hillel is a former para
trooper in the Israeli army. In
1957, he was sent by the Israeli
government to the Far East to
serve as Agricultural Advisor to
the government of Burma In
1959 he received, a grant to un
dertake further research at the
University of California.
Preluding Dr. Hillel’s featured
talk, the morning session will
highlight slides of the brilliant
stained-glass windows designed
for the Iladassah Chapel in-Jeru
salem by Marc Chagall. The orig-

To Hear Kabhi Drazin
A joint meeting of the Mizraelu
Women and their husbands will
be held at the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center at 8:15 p.m.
Monday, Jan 15, with Rabbi
Nathan Drazin, of Baltimore as
guest speaker.
Rabbi Drazin has been spiritual
leader of the Shaarai Tfilah Con
gregation for over twenty-five
years. He is president of the Tal-
mudical Academy of Baltimore^
and author of the “History of
Jewish Education” and "Mar
riage Made In Heaven.” Rabbi
Drazin is a former president of
the Seaboard Mizrachi Zionist
Region, a former vice president
of the Rabbinical Council of
America. His topic for the eve
ning will be "Faith in Our Fu
ture.”
Sharing the program with his
father-in-law will be Cantor
Robert Ungar of Congregation
Shearith Israel He will open the
program with musical selections.

president of B’nai B’rith Wom
en, has been the guest of Cov
enant, Devotion, Fidelity and
Rishon Chapters of B’nai B’rith
Women on January 9, 10 and 11.
At a tea honoring the Cerebral
Palsy Motor Corp on January
9th. Mrs Reich learned of the
Palsy Motor Corp Program of
B’nai B’rith Women which re
ceived special recognition from
the Cerebral Palsy School for
thirteen years of service to the
palsied children An original
script especially created by Mrs.
Rose Klotz. for the occasion was
presented.
Mrs Bernard Facher, president
of the Atlanta Council of B’nai
B’rith Women, reported that
Mrs. Reich met with the boards
of the three daytime Chapters of
B’nai B’rith Women on Wednes
day morning at the Mayfair
Club and spent Wednesday after
noon m discussion with the ex
ecutive board of the Atlanta
Council of B’nai B’rith Women
During her visit, Mrs. Reich

National OUT Officer Will Talk Tuesday
More Members of Atlanta Chapter
The Atlanta Chapter of Wom
en's American ORT will meet
Tuesday, Jan. 16, to hear Mrs.
Leon Rader, national vice presi
dent
Mrs. Jack Bressler, president
of the Atlanta Chapter, has an
nounced that Mrs. Rader’s talk
will be a feature of a dessert tea
and meeting of the group at 1
p.m. at the Progressive Club.
Mrs. Rader, Mrs. Bressler said,
has been an avid worker for
ORT on several continents, hav
ing first joined in 1932 in France.
She was the first American Jew
ish Woman to go to North Afri
ca to inspect the conditions of
the Jews living there.
From her descriptions of the
situation there, Mrs. Bressler
continued, Mrs. Rader inspired
the beginnings of ORT’s North
African program, which now
provides vocational education to
thousands of men and women in
Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
Mrs. Rader has served in many
capacities on the national ORT
level and was recently appoint
ed national chairman of the
organization’s Earning Power
Improvement Courses (EPIC)
project
She has recently returned from
another trip overseas during
which she attended the 80th ORT
Union Congress in London and
inspected ORT installations in
North Africa, Rome and Mar
seilles.
She studied at the Sorbonne
in France before coming to this
country and since has served ex
tensively as a translator and in
terpreter.
As a special door prize for the
January 16 meeting, a free
week’s stay for two at the Fon
tainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach
will be given.
