Albert Barroeas, son of Mrs
Louisa Barroeas of Atlanta, was
one of two Atlanta students
chosen for National Foundation
scholarships. He is in his fresh
man year at Emoiy University’s
School of Medicine.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley P. Green
span of Florence, Ala., announce
the birth of a son Keith Emory
on December 12. Mrs. Greenspan,
the former Roslyn Goldstein of
Georgetown, S. C., was president
of Hillel at the University of
Georgia. She and her husband,
formerly from Raleigh, bot.i are
graduates of the UGa Class of
'81.
Dr. and Mrs. William E. Schat-
len of Atlanta entertained at a
supper party recently, honoring
Arthur Rubinstein after his ap
pearance at the Municipal Audi
torium with the Atlanta Symph
ony.
Dr and Mrs. Norman Wasser-
man of Atlanta announce the
birth of a son Myles on Decem
ber 28. A Briss was held on Jan
uary 4, the Rev Max Kleinmann
officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Beckman
of Atlanta and children Fred and
Pat have returned from a Holiday
trip to New York where they took
in several shows.
Mr and Mrs. Jack Aptak of
Tulsa, Okla., and their children
Dana and Michael, are visiting
with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Israel Lischkoff in Atlanta.
Mrs. Paul Borstein has return
ed to Atlanta from a three-week
visit to San Diego, Calif , as the
guest of her children Mr. and Mrs
Robert Steres and grandchildren

Columbus, Ga., during Hanukah
week to be with his children Rab

Atlanta’s Mayfair Club has
announced the election of new
officers for 1963.
The slate chosen at the club’s
annual meeting, January 10, in
cludes:

List Events
The regular meeting of the
Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish
War Veterans, Atlanta Post No.
112, will take place at the Atlan
ta Jewish Community Center on
Monday, Jan. 28, at 8:15 p.m.
The Jewish War Veterans, Post
No. 112, will also meet at the
same time at the Center, al
though each group will hold
separate business meetings.
After the busines sessions, the
two groups will join together for
a program of Community Sing
ing to the music of Arnold Levy,
pianist.
Everyone is invited to attend
the Square Dance to be held at
the AJCC on Sunday, Jan. 20,
at 8 p.m. This is the second an
nual Dance sponsored by the
Auxiliary. Admission is by dona
tion of $1.00, for the Auxiliary
projects. The caller for the eve
ning is that eminent Mariettan,
Jamie Newton.
All members of the Ladies
Auxliary who can possibly do
so are urged to attend the cere
mony on Wednesday, January
30, in Judge Hooper’s court in
the Old Post Office Building,
when approximately 100 new
citizens will take their oath of
allegiance to their new country.
This is a most impressive cere
mony and well worth attending.
Tlie Auxiliary will present each
new American with a gift and
extend a cordial welcome to
each.

Bloch formerly lived in Atlanta.

Scheduled January 26
"An Evening ol Symphonic
Ballet" will be presented by the
Southern Ballet ot Atlanta and
the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
at 8:30 p. m. Saturday, Jan. 26,
at the City Auditorium.
The program includes Mal
colm Arnold's "English Dances,”
Franz Liszt’s “Mephisto Waltz,”
Shostakovitch’s "Pas De Sept
Classique”; Roy Harris’ "Chorale
for Puritans”; Thomas’ “Les
Graces”; and Ravel’s “Bolero.”
A matinee for children, accom
panied by the Symphony, will be
presented at 2:30 p. m. Saturday.
