Tour With Opera
After their two on-and-off-
Broadway successes, Atlanta’s
own Michael Parver and his co
producer Jane Fricdlander are
eyeing audiences in fourteen
states for new fields to conquer.
In February, the two voung
theatrical producers will leave
New York m a cross-country
tour with ' The Turn of the
Screw,” a dramatic musical opera
based on the Henry James novel.
Benjamin Britten has composed
the music for the opera which
stars I*atricia Neway and Rich
ard Caasilly. *•
The opera, whic.i premiered in
Venice and later was performed
in London and Canada, had its
first American per'urmance at the
American Festival in Cambridge
in July of 1961 and the New York
premiere in March of 1962. It won
wide acclaim.
The tour which Parver and
Friedlander will guide will be
mostly before college audiences,
covering 7,590 miles in five
weeks, in Pennsylvania, New
Jersey, Vermont, Washington,
West Virginia. Ohio, Indiana, Mis
souri, Texas, Ohio, Kansas, Iowa,
Illinois, Michigan and Kentucky.

Chapter Leadership chairman.
The training will be conducted
through a series of ten 2-hour
megleAgs, beginning Monday, Feb.
4. and continuing weekly through
February 18, followed by a series
of three Monday meetings March
4, 11 and 18
Additional four meetings will
be held in April and announced
later, with all sessions to be held
at the Jewish Community Center
at 10 a. m. until 12 noon each
date scheduled
Sessions will be divided into
two periods one hour in the area
of "Human Development," direct
ed bv Dr Jerome Berlin, and the
second hour will be devoted to
various subjects dealing with
techniques of leadership, com
munity relations, public speaking,
parliamentary law procedures,
pattern of organization, and the
practical application of these
subjects.
Dr. Berlin who will direct the
course on Inter-Personal Rela
tionships in Human Development
taught at Emory University and
is at present devoting his full
time to the Human Development
Institute in Atlanta. Dr. Berlin
with a Ph D from the University
of Wisconsin, taught at Lawrence
University on "Group Dynamics.”
