ing for the purpose of installation
of the newly elected officers of
Congregation—Anshi S’Fard will
be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, at
5 p m. in the auditorium of the
Congregation at 1324 North High
land Avenue, N E.
The newly elected officers are:
Lewis I. Merlin, president; Tovia
Sehlaffer, and Bennie Isenberg,
vice presidents; Dave Krasner,
financial secretary Norman Kras
ner, secretary general, and Hersh
Taratoot, honorary president and
treasurer.
The outgoing president, Dr.
Leon S. Rosen, who served two
terms, according to the limita
tions of the constitution of the
Congregation, stated that “in
connection with the celebra
tion of tiie fiftieth anniver
sary of the existence of this Orth
odox congregation, Anshi S’Fard
is facing a new challenge in our
local religious community life.
The congregatic^p has invited, as
its spiritual leader, Rabbi Ben
jamin S. Mirsky, who has prep-
pared a wide program of activ
ities for the benefit of the mem
bers and for the entire Jewish
Community."
The future plan of activities
wil be discussed at that meeting.
All members are urged to attend

the Sisterhood of the Congrega
tion.

Dr. Sanger, spiritual leader of
Temple Israel in Melbourne, will
discuss “Reform Judaism ‘Down
Under'” during the Friday even
ing service beginning at 8 p. m.
A leader in the Reform move
ment, Dr. Sanger was selected to
represent Australia at an Inter- /
national Conference of non-Gov- /
ernmental Organizations, sponsor
ed b' the United Nations. H'- was
recently honored at a civic test
imonial dinner at which the Prime
Minister, Robert Menzies, vas the
principal speaker.

Mizrachi Women will celebrate
together with all children and
friends, young and old, at their
Mazrachi Family Day party on
Sunday, Feb. 3 at 2:30 p. m. in
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center Auditorium.
There will be a small general
admission charge of $1 per person.
For those who help sustain a
Youth Aliyah child in Israel by
providing maintenance and edu
cation for one day with a contri
bution of $3, Shimon Gottschalk,
director of the Atlanta Bureau of
Jewish Education, will present a
certificate.
Atlanta youth groups from dif
ferent Synagogues will participate
in the program. The choral group
from Hebrew Academy wi’l pre
sent musical selections and souv
enirs will be presented to each
child who attends.

The publication date of the
new edition of the Bible—Mon
day, Jan. 26—will also be the
date of Atlanta Hadassah’s Edu
cation program, “Eternal Values
and Contemporary Ideas.”
The day’s events will take
place at Shearith Israel Syna
gogue beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Jewish Publication Society
is sending first editions of the
Bible to Atlanta for this special
day and one will be given as a
door prize.
First part of the morning ses
sion will be a panel discussion,
featuring prominent Hadassah
husbands,” Dr. Julius Wenger
speaking on' “Medicine in the
Bible,” Jerry Cooper, A.I.A., on
"Architecture of the Biblical
Temple" and Dr. I. J Glazer,
giving commentary on a film,
"The Book and the Idol.”
Next, Mrs. Jacob Rothschild
and Beryl Goldberg, director of
Theatre Atlanta, will enact a
orle-act play, written bv Mrs.
Rothschild, entitled “Sacrifice.”
This is a modern-day version of
the familiar biblical story of
Abraham and Isaac. Mrs. Roths
child has appeared in numerous
Atlanta stage productions and
authored other plays.
Guest speaker for the day will
be Isaac Toubin, New York,
noted executive director of the
American Association for Jewish
Education. His talk will keynote
the day’s theme.
On the lighter side will be a
“Sing-a-Long,” eoordnated by
Mrs. Robert Goldwasser and Mrs.
Gary Metzel, under the direction
of Mrs. George Stem.
In the chorus, accompaned bv
Mrs. Richard Franco, pianist,
will be Mrs. Manuel Levine, Mrs.
Albert Taylor, Mrs. Morris Ga-

Program of Annual Regional
Jewish Education Conference
Plans have* been completed for the Third Annual Jewish Educa
tion Conference to be sponsored by the Atlanta Bureau of Jewish
Education on January 27 and 28 This year’s conference will take
place lit Congregation Beth Jacob, 1855 LaVista Rd., N.E.
Every teacher in each of the Hebrew schools, religious schools
and the Jewish Day school in Atlanta, plus a number of out-of-town
guests are expeetfd to participate in the conference. Orthodox, Re
form and Conservative congregations alike are lending their support
to the conference and are making every effort to encourage both
their teachers and the members of their education and school com
mittees to attend. Registrations are being received by school directors
and at the office of the Bureau, 41 Exchange Place.
