Women’s Division Institute
Sotne M women leaden from several communities attended the Women’s Division Institute of the
Southern States Region of the Council of Jewis'i Federations and Welfare Funds, last month. At-

Cast for Purim Ball Play

Sisterhood in the Synagogue Cen
ter at 8 p. m. Saturday, March 23
The motif for the evening is
the theatre. Decorations will be
used to follow this theme.
A musical program, “Mine Fail
Sadie,” a parady of a Broadway
play, will be presented under the
direction of Lt. Mark Rosen'eld

BBYO, it was announced by Ber
nard Spector, Southern Regional
Chairman of the adult regional
steering body, recently.
Carol Cohen, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald H. Cohen, is fif
teen, a sophomore at Northside
High where she has served as
homeroom officer for two years.
She rates scholastically in the top
ten per cent of her class, and has
been on the Honor Roll since
eighth grade. In religious school
she currently is a member of the
executive board, has been on the
Student Council for three years,
and will be confirmed this year
Miss Cohen’s BBG activities in
clude Best-All-Around Member-
in-Training; vice-president in
charge of programming; Conven
tion co-ordinator; winning of the
most-participation award; Atlan-
ta-Macon-Columbus Council del
egate for three years; Service
Fund chairman for the Council.
On the regional level she has
served as creativity chairman,
convention discussion and work
shop leader, and steering commit
tee member.
Steve Alterman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Alterman, is sixteen,
a sophomore in Henry Grady
High School, and looks forward
to a career in law. He is a grad
uate of the Hebrew Academy of
Atlanta, currently attends He
brew High School and is com
pleting his tenth year of Hebrew
Studies. He has served as Chap
ter Godol, A-M-C Council Godol,
on the Steering Committee of two
Regional conventions and has
been an active participant of Dis
trict and International BBYO
Conventions.
The theme of the convention
which produced the two presi
dents was “BBYO-Judaism and
You,” and discussions focused on
the subjects of truth, justice,
freedom and peace as they relate
to the every day experiences of
the typical BBYO member; as
well as the more sophisticated
levels of world, national, state
and local problems.
Rabbi Raphael Gold of Atlanta
served as keynote speaker for the
350 youths and adults gathered
at the annual Regional Conven
tion which took place in Macon.
Various contests sparked the
convention. BBG song contests
and winners included: Alma Ma
ter. first place, Savannah, No.
1133; second place, Greensboro,
N. C., Mona Sorkin; third place,
Augusta, Cheryl Rice.
Spirit Song Contest: first, At-
lanta-DJG; second, Savannah,
No. 1133; third, BBG-JOY At
lanta; and honorable mention,
BBG-DOT, Atlanta.
Comic Song Contest: first, Co-
lumbia-UBG, second, Greenaboro-
rator In the chorus are Mrs.
Marvin Cohen, Mr.;. Milton Kin-
bar, Leigh Brody, Dolph Pros-
kauer, and Milton Marshall. Kurt
Schild is piano accompanist.
