Atlanta Volunteers Urged
For December 8 *BIG Day'
With preparations underway
for an Intensive person to person
campaign for the sale of Israel
Bonds, Co-Chairmen Sam Bplan,
Mrs. Louis Smith and Max Rob-
kin have issued a last minute ap
peal for additional volunteers to
help make this year’s “BIG Day”
the beet ever held in Atlanta.
In a statement to the presidents
of organizations and their Israel
Bond chairmen, the co-chairmen
urged the swift enlistment of vol-

staff, motored to New Orleans this
weekend to spend Thanksgiving
with Howard Burnham, her son,
a member of the New Orleans
Jewish Community Center staff.
She was accompanied by her son
Alan Burnham.

at North Carolina State, Greens
boro, is spending Thanksgiving
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Krick in Atlanta.

ner of Baton Rouge, La., an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Peggy Joyce Gardner,
to Melvyn Dean Little, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Little of Atlanta.
The bride-elect was graduated
from high school in Cleburne,
Tex., and attended Union College
in Lincoln, Neb.
Mr. Little was graduated from
the Georgia State College of Busi
ness Administration, where he
was president of Alpha Epsilon
PI, secretary of the student coun
cil and was elected to the col
legiate Who’s Who. The future
bridegroom is field director of the
American Red Cross in Macon.
The wedding will take place
at Temple Sinai in New Orleans

ing, December 8, to the person-
to-person “BIG Day.”
Volunteers will start with a
breakfast at 10 .a m. at the Pro
gressive Club. They will receive
prospect cards and last minute
instructions,
“Each volunteer on ‘BIG Day’,”
explained Mr. Eplan, “will be
given a specific territorial assign
ment, including a list of people
to contact and a BIG Day kit
which includes all material for
the campaign.” He added:
“The wonderful spirit of the
volunteers In the 1962 BIG Day
effort helped sell the record num
ber of persons that helped make
the campaign in Atlanta a very
successful one.”
Mrs. Louis Smith, chairman of
the Atlanta Israel Bond Women’s
Division and a BIG Day co-chair
man, called on the women’s or-
ganizatoins in Atlanta to provide
a large number of volunteers
from each organization. She
pointed to the fact that last year
the women’s participation spelled
the success of the one-day drive.
The Atlanta Hadassah Chapter,
which won the award for pro
viding the largest number of vol
unteers, was singled out at their
recent convention in Washington
to receive the National Israel
Bond Award, the only chapter in
the United States to receive one.

Mrs. Fried will discuss “Torah
Fund,” one of the projects of the
League through which support is
given to the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America. The speak
er has served on both a local and
national level in many other areas
of the New York community.
Members are invited to attend
as guests of the Sisterhood.
