THE 80UTIIEBN ISRAELII E
Behind UN Seenes - David Horowitz
Passover and the UN
UNITED NATIONS (WUP)—Some
three thousand five hundred year*
have elapsed in human history since
Moses confronted the Hitler of bis
day with a plea to "let my people
go" in order that they might live
freely and practice the tenets of
their faith without interference.
The whole world is fully familiar
with that great Egyptian episode
which led to the mighty Exodus—
the first human march for freedom
and liberty—and the subsequent Sin
aitic Declaration of the universal
rights of man and legal code which
had made a deep imprint upon all
mankind.
The symbol of Passover, then, has
a meaning not only for the children
of Israel but also for all the na
tions on earth who cherish liberty,
freedom and independence
Yet, in our so-called civilized age
and time, after the descendants of
Moses had experienced the murder
ous holocaust of Hitler in which al
most one third of the race had been
satanically eliminated within a
Christian dispensation, the self-same
plea of Moses, "Let My People Go,”
with all that this implies, is being
re-echoed within these halls of the
United Nations before deaf ears.

STATE Or GEORGIA—
FULTON COUNTY
To the Superior Court
of (eld County:
The peUtlon of Either K. Leppert,
J. Arthur Young, end S. K. Misrock
respectfully shows unto the court:
1. Petitioners desire for themselves,
their associates, successors and aa-
slens to be Incorporated for a term
of thirty-five (35) yeari, together with
the right of renewal as provided for
by the Laws of Georgia, under the
name and style of:
COLONIAL CAB CO.. INC.—Atlanta
I. The principle office and place of
business shall be In Atlanta, Fulton
County, Georgia, with the privilege of
maintaining branch offlcea elsewhere
In accordance with the lew.
S. The object of said corporation la
pecuniary gain to Itself ana Its stock
holders. « .
4. The general nature of the busl-
ness to be engaged In la to own and
operate taxicabs In the Cltv of At
lanta and Fulton County, but petl
tloners desire the right to purchase
and otherwise acquire, own, use, sell
and convey end deal In real estate,
and any Interest
and
and right therein;
cohorts refuse to be moved Their
hearts are hardened against the
granting of the freedom of consci
ence and movement to practice the
tenets of their faith to some three
million sons and daughters of Jacob
"enslaved” behind the Iron Cur
tain. True, they have not been forced
to make "bricks without straw ”
Worse yet: they have been “allow
ed” to practice their eternal faith
under duress without the objects and
ritual foods which alone can give
the faith any real meaning—a mock
ery and an insult to the Decalogue
religion which brought civilization to
the world.
These same oppressors—preten .-
ing to be liberals and champions of
human rights—have barred the doors
to any exodus. Tens of thousands
would leave yearly for reborn Israel
and elsewhere had the doors to free
dom been opened. But no, the gates
are locked tight. Should a Russian
Jew speak up, express his view
openly about Israel, Zionism and
his religious needs-his fate would
be that of a traitor.
But all this is not enough. The
Kremlin’s anti-Jew'shness is not
confined solely to tiie Soviet Union
The Soviets are supporting all those
elements in the world who oppose
Jewry and Israel on both religious
and national grounds Hence Moscow
is standing by Nasser and the Arabs
who have sworn to eliminate Is
rael. In May Nikita Khrushchev is
gouig to Cairo to confer with Nas
ser And we can just about imagine
wiiat they are going to talk about
Thus Passover and the lesson this
redemptive festival teaches should
have a special meaning at this
season not only for world Jewry
commemorating the event but also
for the non-Jewish world, especially
Lha Soviets and the Arabs, who
might recall what happened to Pha
raoh and to his household at the
critical stage of that historic crisis.
The plight of the Soviet Jews fig
urea prominently here in the recent
meetings of the Commission on
Human Rights, thanks to U. S. inter
vention. And the Soviet delegate
e\ en went along with the acceptance
of a clause ccndemning anti-Sem
itism. But, apparently, "anti-Sem
itism” means something else to the
Soviet leaders. Their actions on
hr me grounds belies their speeches
here at the UN.
The issue of the baking of Matzoh
in the Soviet Union was again raised
this year and complaints were
echoed in UN halls. Now, why should
th: Russians make the production
of matzoh difficult for Russian Jews”
The answer is simple.

through the ages wherever Jerws

The redemption of Israel Bonds
held by residents of Georgia and
South Carolina have increased since
all Independence Savings Bonds
purchased in 1952 and First Devel
opment Savings Bonds purchased in
1954 fall due this year, it was stated
by Mr. A. J. Weinberg, Chairman
of Israel Bonds for the two-state
?rea. This year more than $40,000,-
000 in State of Israel Bonds will be
redeemed by the State of Israel, in
the above classifications, plus ap
proximately $10,000,000 in Bonds
which have yet to be redeemed from
those who purchased 1951 Independ
ence Savings Bonds. Mr Weinberg
continued
It is most encouraging, Mr. Wein
berg added, to see the number of
reinvestments of redemption monies
in the new Third Development Issue
which is currently being sold. This
is indeed indicative of the confidence
and faith of bondholders in Israel's
ability to use investment dollars
wisely.
Information regarding the redemp
tion of bonds may be secured by
calling 875-8551 in Atlanta, or writing
to Milton Parson, State of Israel

the once actual symbol attesting to
the truth of the Biblical record of
that great event. The Matzoh proves
something. It proves that what hap
pened really happened. The Israelites
left in haste; they had no time to
make leaven, so they hurriedly
baked the unleavened dough The
Matzoh therefore not only confirms
the Exodus but also serves to tes
tify as to the eternity of the Hebraic
faith which atheistic Russia is
striving to outlaw
It is a wonder that the Soviets
as well as the Egyptians have not
yet placed a ban on the Haggada
