ious beliefs to include discussion of
this matter "in their own deliberate
channels," specifically mentioning
in this context “international Chris
tian forums such as World Council
of Churches’’, 3) F-niieting the sup-
pert of civic, labor, education, and
religious organizations, veterans' and
women’s groups and others to ex
press their concern for the plight
of Soviet Jews; and 4> A special
drive to secure statements from re
ligious leaders of prominence, win
ners of honors and awards in science
and tile hiananities, outstanding in
tellectuals and others, "raising their
voices’’ on behalf of Soviet Jew
ry.
At the same time, local American
Jewish communities were urged to
hold their own conferences on Soviet
Jewry, on a pattern similar to that
of the national conference held here
to help community-wide committees
and enlist the support of local civic,
religious, educational and other
bodies; and to provide factual ma
terial about Soviet Jewish conditions
to teachers, educators, editors, and
other opinion-makers
Rabbi Max Nuosbaum of Los An
geles, speaking for the committee
on national follow-up. told the con
ference "We shall not rest or desist
wtil we have awakened world opin
ion and brought its full weight and
influence to bear upon this uncon
scionable wrong."
In addition to the message from
Cardinal Meyer of Chicago, the con
ference received statements approv
ing its major aims from other prom
inent, nmyJewish leaders in Amer

Dreyfus, 38, of Beaumont, Tex.,

Memorial Park. Rabbi Jacob M.

Mr. Dreyfus died Monday, March
98, in Beaumont. A native of Atlanta,
he was a member of B'nai B'rkh

Joseph Goldstein
, Joseph Goldstein. 73, of Greenville.
S. C., died March 3 after an ill
ness of several weeks
Funeral services were conducted
March 30 from Mackey Mortuary
with burial in Beth Israel Cemetery
Mr. Goldstein was a native of
Russia and came to the United
States as a child. A former resident
of Savannah, he had lived in
Greenville for nine months He was
a member of Congregation Beth Is
rael and the Long Island Lodge of
Masons
Survivors are his wife. Mrs
Frances Robmson Goldstein of
Greenville; a sister, Miss Dorothy
Goldstein of Miami Beach, and a
brother, Albert Goldstein of Atlan
ta.

Nat Siegel died March « in Brook
lyn, N Y Funeral services were
held in Brooklyn. N Y
Nat Siegel, a long time resident
of Atlanta, made his home in Brook
lyn for the past 15 years. He was
the brother of Mrs. Harry Lefkoff
Besides his widow. Mr Siegel
leaves a daughter. Mrs. Shelly Mar
cus, a son Steven, two sisters Mrs
Irving Altman of Great Neck, N Y
and Mrs. Harry LefkofT of Atlanta
He was a World War II veteran
