Community
During the past weeks the Nurs
ery School Children and their teach
ers have taken several excursions
throughout the community. Assisted
by mothers, Mrs. Schwartz and her
group shopped for a classroom pet
They had agreed to get fish and her
children helped select their prospec
tive room residents The opportun
ity to select, pay for and receive
change for purchases made gives
depth and meaning to children.
Some of the groups have already
taken a trip to the zoo, and the
other groups have scheduled their
excursions for the near future.
In the playrooms the children have
talked about animals and have look
ed at pictures of them, but actually
seeing how big an elephant is, how
quietly a lion moves enriches the
child’s concept of the abstract as
well as the real world about him.
Aa a special treat on Mother’s
Day, May 10, at 2:30 p. m., the
“Spot Linkers” will present their
charming version of "Hansel And
Grate!.’’
