Atlanta
VISTAS
Mizrachi Women to cite
McGill For
Ralph McGill, Editor and
Publisher of the Atlanta Consti
tution, will be the recipient of
the Bronze Medalion Award
presented by the Atlanta Chap
ter of Mizrachi Women at their
first Victory Dinner Dance, to
be held on Sunday, June 27, at
7 p.m., at the Beth Jacob Social
Hall, 1855 La-
Vista Road, N.E.
This presenta
tion is being
made to Mr.
McGill for his
outstanding con
tribution in fur
thering Ameri
can - Israeli
relations. Pos
sessed of a tremendous talent, as
well as a rare insight of human
nature, Mr. McGill has traveled
to Israel several times. Once in
1946, seeing the Israeli nation
striving to be born, and then re
turning again in 1950. Each time
bringing with him the knowledge
and understanding that is so
much needed in strengthening
Israel Aid
the bond between Israel and the
American People. After watch
ing and reporting on the Nurem
berg trials, he became interested
in the plight of the displaced per
sons of Europe. His series on the
new nation, then in the throes
of formation, was nationally
syndicated in this country.
Mr. McGill again returned to
Israel this spring to report on the
progress whichAas been made
in the interim. The widespread
demand to make all the facts
available in permanent form,
brought him to write the book
“Israel Revisited,” which has been
read throughout America. His
words carry a warmth and gen
uineness possessed by a truly
great humanitarian.
This work is a shrine to Mr.
McGill, and the women of
Mizrachi take great pride in
acknowledging this. We hope
that everyone will join in help
ing us bestow this honor.

Atlanta Welfare Fund Cooperating
With National UJA Cash Campaign
A national campaign by the
United Jewish Appeal for funds
required for its worldwide ac
tivities is being conducted
throughout the United States.
Communities throughout the
United States are cooperating
with the UJA in raising maxi
mum cash which will enable the
agency to carry on its activities.
Milton Weinstein, a member of
the National Cabinet of UJA and
an outstanding leader of the At
lanta community, urged all the
contributors to send in cash to
the Jewish Welfare Fund so that
Atlanta, together with the other
communities in the United
States, will be able to send the
maximum amount of funds to the
UJA.
Mr. Weinstein pointed out that
in Israel, continued heavy um-
migration, now in its fifth year,
has put an abnormal strain on
the absorption facilities of the
Jewish Agency for Israel, the
UJA-supported agency responsi
ble for resettling and absorbing
newcomers in that country.
MILTON WEINSTEIN
A contributing factor to the
emergency, Mr. Weinstein said,
has been the ending of German
reparations payments averaging
more than seven million dollars
annually to the Joint Distribu
tion Committee, the UJA agency
which provides welfare services
for 400,000 needy Jews over
seas.
“Atlanta has responded nobly
in pledging to the 1965 Campaign.
Now we must redeem our pledges
with cash which will buy tickets
to freedom for the thousands who
immigrate to Israel, and provide
sustenance for the scores of thou
sands who are being helped in
28 countries overseas,” Mr. Wein
stein stated.
Nerenbaum Bar Mitzvah
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Neren
baum of Atlanta cordially invited
their friends and relatives to at
tend the Bar Mitzvah of their son,
Robert, on Saturday, July 3, at
9 a. m., Ahavath Achim Syna
gogue. A Kiddush honoring Rob
ert will follow the Services.
Robert is the grandson of Mr.
and Mrs. Ike Nerenbaum.
