Miss Diane Pressman of Chat
tanooga became the bride of
Harvey Stanley Shulman of At
lanta on September 12 in B’nai
Zion Synagogue, Chattanooga.
Rabbi Joseph Renov and Cantor
Louis Rothman officiated. Music
was presented by John Robere
and Mrs. Max Trolz.
The bride is the daughter of
Sam Pressman and the late Mrs.
Sadye Pressman, and the parents
of the bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Shulman of Atlan
ta.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Miss Carol
Pressman served her sister as
maid of honor and Mrs. Leon
Siegel was her sister’s matron of
honor. Bridesmaids were Miss
Sandy Shulman, sister of the
bridegroom, Miss Loretta Bemath,
Mrs. Martin Cohen and Mrs.
Irvin Pressman. Faye Siegel,
niece of the bride, acted as flower
girl.
Alan Toranto was best man
and groomsmen were Waley
Teich, Harvey Fitterman, Irvin
Pressman, brother of the bride,
Richard Wolfe and Stanley Cohen.
Michael Siegel, nephew of the
bride, acted as rlngbearer.
A reception and dinner party
were held at the Read House fol

groom is stationed with the U.S.

Miss Gail Alpern of Savannah
became the bride of Robert
Michael Ginsberg of Savannah
on September 19. Rabbi A. I.
Rosenberg officiated at the wed
ding in the home of the bride’s
aunt, Mrs. A. H. Center.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Alpern and
the bridegroom’s parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Isadore Ginsberg.
Given in marriage by her fa
ther, the bride was attended by
her sister, Miss Mary Claire Al
pern. Stuart Alan Ginsberg was
his brother’s best man.
Mr. and Mrs. Ginsberg will re
side in Columbia, S. C.
Youth Dance Oct. 16
At Shearith Israel
Shearith Israel Youth Group
has planned an open member
ship dance in the Synagogue
Social Hall at 7:30 p.m.. Satur
day, Oct. 16.
Janet Strassberger and Steve
Levetan, chairmen, invite all in
terested young people from 13 to
17 to dance to the music of Col.
Marcus and The Huntsmen. Ben
and Say Landy will provide en
tertainment and refreshments
will be served. There is no charge

their second son Mark Israel on
September 30. Mrs. Kaplan is the

a daughter, Naomi Sue, on Mon
day, Sept 27. The grandparents

ment of their daughter, Emily
Elizabeth, to Pvt. Steven Mark
Kaplan, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Irving Kaplan.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
Studstill of Eastman and the late
Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Herin of
Macon. She is a graduate of the
Academy of Richmond County
and attended Brewton Parker
College, Mount Vernon.
Pvt. Kaplan is the grandson of
Mrs. Sarah Greenberg and Mrs.
Elsie Kaminsky and the late Mr.
Ike Kaminsky of New York. He
attended the Academy of Rich
mond County and is presently
serving in the U. S. Army, sta
tioned at Ft. Rucker, Ala.
H irsch—Schimmel
Miss Brenda Sue Hirsch,
daughter of Mrs. Hyla Lewis
Hirsch and Samuel David Hirsch
of Savannah, became the bride of
Herbert Gerald Schimmel on
Sunday, Sept. 19. The ceremony
was performed by Rabbi Abra
ham I. Rosenberg at B’nai B’rrth
Jacob Synagogue.
Mr. Schimmel is the son of Mrs.
Joseph Schimmel and the late Mr.
Schimmel of Flushing, N. Y.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Miss Louise
Gutman of Jacksonville was maid
of honor and bridesmaid was
Miss Linda Harvey of West
Springfield, Mass.
The bridegroom’s bro t h e r ,
Steven D. Schimmel of Rego Park,
N. Y., served as best man and
ushers were Lt. (j.g.) Robert
Benjamin Hirsch, brother of the
bride, and Michael Samuel Bob-
lasky, the bride’s cousin.
A reception was held in the
social hall of the synagogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Schimmel will
make their home in Jamaica,
N. Y.

membership coffee at 10:30 a m..
Friday, Oct. 15, at Beth Jacob
Synagogue, Mrs. Walter Bunzl,
president, has announced.
Mrs. Donald Wender and Mrs.
Max C. Gettinger, program chair
men for the day, announced the
theme, “A Woman’s Place is in
the World,” will emphasize the
need for a woman’s commitment
for social action to improve the
world in which she lives.
Three special community wide
projects will be featured; Golden
Age Employment Service, pre
sented by Mrs. Nathan Kahn, Jr.;
Women in Community Service

garten, and Youth Projects, by
Mrs. Joel Pressman. The Hannah
G. Solomon award will be pre
sented by Mrs. W. Graham Moses
to the Volunteer of the Year for
1964-65. Mrs. Emanuel Feldman
will give the invocation.
The morning coffee will be
climaxed by the first Atlanta ap
pearance of Mrs. Bernard J.
Stevens, in her own arrangement
of satirical songs. Mrs. Stevens,
a newcomer to the local scene,
has written professionally for
many top television and night
club performers.
