An inspection by architect I. S.
Loewenberg led to the conclusion
that it would be unwise to add
to or remodel the present build
ing. Spokesmen for the Central

Board expressed agreement with
these findings and said they
hoped steps will soon be taken
to begin planning for a new
Home.
Due to the resignation of
Thomas Makover as treasurer,
the nominating committee recom
mended Joe Cuba for the office.
Abe Goldstein was re-elected
president, with Meyer Balser and
Bill Breman as vice presidents
and Fannie Boorstin, secretary.
Elected to the board for a three-
year term were: Mrs. Sam Alter-
man, David Davis, Ed Fagelson,
Mrs. Leon Frohsin, Dan Garson,
Dr. Irving Goldstein, Mrs. Bern
ard Howard, Max L. Kuniansky,
Nathan Lipton, Sanford Orkin,
Dr. Paul Teplis and Mrs. W. M.
Wender.
Movies taken of the 1965 Purim
Ball were shown by Joel Butler.

joint committee on Volunteer
Services.
Outstanding events of the year
included the 5th Annual Medical
and Dental Consultant Staff Din
ner in June with Dr. Paul Teplis
as master of ceremonies. Special
praise was extended to Jack
Cohen, volunteer pharmacist, for
his many hours of service to the
Home.

Dr. William Rottersman was
the chief speaker at the annual
luncheon for volunteers in May.
Mrs. Arlene Frohsin, Chairman
of Joint Committee on Volunteer
Services, presided and presented
certificates to volunteers who
gave 50 hours or more of service
to the Home in 1964

The Annual Dinner Meeting
of the Residents’ Council in June
was presided over by Harry Beer-
man, president of the Council.
Awards were presented by
Mrs. Frohsin for outstanding
service given by residents to the
Home during 1964 Mrs. Jennie
Edelstein received the 3M—Hob
by Shop Award. Mrs. Lottie Hamm
was cited for Outstanding Work
in Hobby Shop, and Mrs. Rose
Freedman for Outstanding Serv
ice in the Home. Edward M
Four-Sta le Single
Adults Have Fun
Weekend in Atlanta
Approximately fifty single
adults gathered in Atlanta for an
inter-city conclave, under the
sponsorship of the S.P.A.C. Club.
Out-of-town visitors joined the
Atlanta group from Jacksonville,
Nashville, Birmingham, Hunts
ville, Ala., and Chattanooga for
a weekend of fellowship, dancing,
dining and brunch meeting.
Mrs. Ruby Weinstein and Is-
adore Udinsky headed the com
mittee in charge of planning the
entertainment which included a
cocktail party, champagne sup
per and dancing to a live orch
estra.
Sunday moming’te brunch at
the Progressive Club explored
the possibility of repeat perform
ances in order to promote oppor
tunities for cultural and social
exchange and how to encourage
creation of more single adult
groups on the local level.
Mrs. Ethel Weiss, president of
SPAC, and Mrs. Mollie Tierney
of Jacksonville shared the presid
ing with Eddie Robbins of the
AJCC staff making the principal
talk.
Kahn installed new officers and
board members, followed by brief
addresses by Sam Eplan, Mendle
Boorstin, Mrs. Philip Shafferman,
Louis Newmark and William Bre
man.
