called. He has to pay. But he
sure told off the phone people.
From now on we won’t watch
the Telephone Hour on TV. And

My name is Kenny. I am eight
years old. Daddy asked me to
write this week because of some
thing about the phone bill. He
got it yesterday. He hasn’t been
home since. He took one look at
that bill, but he didn’t hit the
ceiling. He hit the floor. It was
great trying to wake him up. I
used my water gun. You should
have seen him choking. And he
calls ME Chicken of the Sea. Ha
ha. Anyway, he is still at the
phone company arguing. So I’m
here writing about the bowlers.
But first let me tell you about
something better. I am now a
Cub Scout. We have a great Den.
Dr Din. Daddy says you can spell
it either way. The lady in charge
is really good. She’s just like one
of the boys. Her name is Scotty
Holtz’s Mother. She is a sure
enough hot shot. I guess that’s
why grown-ups call her BB. I
got my uniform last week. It fits
me just right. My Uncle Louie
used to wear it. About five years
ago. The only thing I had to do
was let the cuffs out some. I’m
just kidding, Uncle Yukie. It fit
without letting the cuffs out.
Cub Scouts have a lot of fun.
But they are strict too. They have
lots of good rules. If we lived by
just half of them, we’d be angels.
We meet every Friday. At differ
ent houses. We have to. It takes
about six weeks to straighten up
a house after we’ve been there.
I’m just kidding, Mrs. Holtz. It
only takes about two weeks. Well,
let’s get on about bowling. I just
looked at the scores. I’d rather
write about Cub Scouts some
more You’ll see why, as Daddy
would say. This Mr. Eddie Recht-
man that uses ice skates instead
of bowling shoes set the new rec
ord so far. He had a great 243
game and a 622 series. That’s even
hard for a kid like me to believe.
Mr. Rechtman’s brother Leon
bowls with my Daddy on Sun
day nites. Dad won’t believe
they’re kin any more. Not after
that 622. The next best was a
201-564 that Mr. Sandy Winston
had. Dad doesn’t know how he
even bends over to throw the
ball. He’s the one that wears those
tight pants. He never loses a bet,
Dad says. The reason is he
couldn’t get his hands in his pock
ets to pay off anybody. There was
a few good single games. Mr.
Harry Gerson the one that has a
bowling ball shaped like a light
bulb that he sells had a shatter
ing 207. Mr. Doe Cohen that
sells things to eat to restaurants
and has a ball that looks and
sounds like a meatball had a 205.
Mr. Ed Rigel that sells those pos
tage meters for letters and never
even learned how to write Kim-
self (Daddy said) had a 205. Mr.
Dick Born that sells all that good
healthy nourishing candy had a
200. He hasn’t brought any sam
ples by lately. He also had a 112
game. Mr. Eisenberg the arguing
man that is also such a great
golfer especially at the bowling
alley had a 200. And Mr. Irving
Appelson that sells all the best
toys you see on TV but who has
been sort of stingy lately with
his samples had a 421 series. I
bet that will loosen him up a lit
tle bit. And don’t come around
with any of those ten cent items,
Mr. Appelson, I’m eight years old
now. Those jackstones from last
year ain’t enough to keep me
quiet any more. Put some wheels
on me now, Mr. A. baby!
Daddy says to remind you of
the next Blood Bank Day. It is
on Nov. 7th. It is in honor of
Mr. A1 Berger. He was a good
man. If you can give blood, please
don’t forget to help out. Sunday.
Nov. 7th. 'That’s about all for
now. Wait a minute. Daddy just
we also have his permission to
slam the receiver. How about
that. Dad is REALLY upset. Bye
now
