Nursery School Parents
Volunteer To Help
The Parent Volunteer program
at the Center Nursery School is
well underway for the 1965-66
school season and many of the
parents are contributing their
time and skills and talents to
the school.
The parent helpers serve as in
valuable aides to the teachers in
carrying out the daily program.
While the parents are assisting
they too have an opportunity to
gain greater understanding of
their own children in relation to
other boys and girls of the same
age. The volunteer can get an in
sight into the needs of the pre
schooler and the ways in which
these needs can be met in a satis
fying and meaningful way.
Under the direction of the
teacher, the parent who is especi
ally skilled in dramatics, crafts,
music or dancing uses her special
skills to broaden and enhance
the learning experience for the
children.
Interested adults as well as
parents whose children are in
the Nursery School may volun
teer their skills or to assist on a
scheduled basis by calling Mrs.
Sacks, the director of the pre
school department.
To date the following parents
have volunteered their assistance
in the parent helper program:

GET I IN THE SWIM
Fall Aquatic Program Con
cludes Fourth Week.
Sixteen swimming courses in
all categories are finishing up
their fourth week in all of the
groups.
Pre-school and Beginner classes
for children stress the funda
mentals—i.e. to breathe properly,
turn in water, to swim and take
care of themselves. After master
ing these beginning techniques,
the student moves to the ad
vanced beginners then on to the
intermediate course.
Take a brief look at some of
the students in our beginners
classes, we’re going to have
channel swimmers at the ripe old
ages of four and five year olds:
Matt Morton, 5 yr old, and Dara
Siegel, 5 years old, are working
on swimming the length of the
pool. Morty and Bart can swim
18 yards. Matt and Dara are
swimming 10 yards non-stop.
They are also going off the board
like professionals. The other Stu
dents in the classes are doing
real well. Several of the students
have mussed some classes due to
illness, we hope they will be feel
ing fine real soon and able to
rejoin us in the pool.
Since our swimming program
is designed to raise the general
safety skill level of all Center
members, all adults and children
are urged to get in the swim.
Winter Aquatic Program will
be getting underway after the
first of the year. This program
will be set up by age group
rather than swimming ability.
Watch the AJCC News page for
more details concerning the
Winter Program.
