Blase—Weinzimer
Carolyn Weinzimer, daughter
of Leo Weinzimer of Nashville,
became the bride of Raymond
Byron Blase, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Blase, August 29 at the
West End Synagogue in Nash
ville. Rabbi Jerome Kestenbaum
officiated and Cantor Bernard
Glusman assisted.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Karen Weinz
imer was her cousin’s maid of
honor. Bridal attendants were
Lanie Preis of McMinnville,
Tenn., and Mrs. Marian Green-
burg, cousin of the bride. Marvin
Blase was his brother’s best man.
Ushers were Sam Blase, brother
of the bridegroom, and Nathan
Weinzimer, brother of the bride.
After a wedding trip to Panama
City, the newlyweds live in At
lanta.

Workers for Donor Event
Mendel—Schultz
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mendel of
Atlanta announce the engagement
of their daughter, Shirley Ilene,
to Dr. Gerald T. Schultz of Fort
Lauderdale. Dr. Schultz is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius
Schultz of Waterloo, Iowa.
Miss Mendel is the maternal
granddaughter of Mrs. A. O.
Galvin of Nashville and the late
Nathan Davis. Her paternal
grandparents were the late Mr.
and Mrs. H. Mendel.
The bride-elect graduated from
Henry Grady High School and
attended Georgia State College
and the University of Oklahoma,
where she was a member of Al
pha Epsilon Phi sorority. She was
international sweetheart of Alpha
Epsilon Pi fraternity.
Dr. Schultz received his BA
degree from the University of
Iowa and his medical degree
from the Iowa School of Med
icine. He is presently engaged in
private practice in Ft. Lauder
dale where he treats diseases of
the ear, nose and throat, spec
ializing in micro-surgery.
The wedding will take place
December 5 at the Ahavath
Achim Synagogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shapiro of
Tampa are guests of their daugh
ter, Mrs. Charlie Franco, and
Mr. Franco at their new home on
Blanton Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Fire
stone of Marietta announce the
birth of a son, Richard David, on
September 23. Mrs. Firestone is
the former Arlene Krasnoff of
Bishopville, S. C.
Dr. and Mrs. William E. Schat-
ten sailed October 14 aboard the
S.S. France bound for Europe.
Dr. Schatten, who is the recipient
of an international award for
traveling and lecturing from the
Foundation of American Society
of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, will lecture in Paris,
Madrid and Lisbon. The expect
to return in mid-November.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard R. Peck
of Atlanta announce the birth of
a son, Keith Aaron, on Septem
ber 27. Mrs. Peck is the former
Arlene Sandra Greenberg, daugh
ter of Mrs. Mollie Greenberg of
Atlanta. The paternal grandpar
ents are Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin
Peck of Fairfield, Conn.
Dr. and Mrs. Martin L. Reish
of Atlanta announce the birth of
their third son, Gregory Nathan,
on September 28. Mrs. Reish is
the former Raida Lefkoff. A briss
was performed by Cantor Ostrov
sky of Birmingham with Dr. and
Mrs. Tarry Brogman as godpar
ents.
TEL AVIV (JTA) — A Dutch
collaborator who was convicted
in his native Holland of having
worked for the Nazis during the
wartime occupation of that coun
try, was refused entry into Is
rael as a tourist. The collaborator,
Cornelius Johaans (Verhoof, 44,
was returned to Holland.

president of the chapter.
The mid-point reports will be
given at 10:30 a. m. Friday, Oct.

at a brunch at 10:30 a. m. Tues
day, Nov. 2, at the home of Mrs.

Parties Oct. 26-27
“Bring your bundles and come
to a party” is a fanrrliar phrase
in circles of the Atlanta Sec
tion, National Council of Jewish
Women. The bundles of clothes
collected at the parties will go
to the Thrift Shop, which is a
yearly project for members of
Council.
This year the parties will be
held Tuesday, October 26, and
Wednesday, October 27. Thirty
women will be hostesses for these
gatherings on Tuesday and Wed
nesday. Dessert will be served to
all those attending.

On Monday, Oct. 25, Tel Chai
Group of Hadassah discussion
group will meet at 10 a. m. at

of the meeting will be the “Jew
ish Influence in the American
Theater.” Mrs. Rose Klotz will be

Atlantans Off
To ORT Parley
A number of Atlantans will
leave this weekend to attend the
18th Biennial National Conven
tion of Women’s American ORT
(Organization for Rehabilitation
through Training) to be held
October 24—29 in Pittsburgh.
Local delegates participating in
the convention will include Mrs.
Stanley Schube, Mrs. Ruben
Lansky and Mrs. Sidney Shier.
Mrs. Sam Galanti, Mrs. Donald
Goldman, Mrs. Dave Rothfarb
and Mrs. Jack Bressler, who
serve on the National Board
of ORT, will also attend.
Mrs. Galanti, commenting on the
fact that ORT’s vocational edu
cation and training network has
trained more than one million
people since 1880, said “This con
vention will make plans for help
ing ORT expand its operations. . .
to include an annual enrollment
of 50,000 students. . . in more than
600 installations on five contin
ents.”

will speak at the opening night
banquet. Mrs. Max M. Rosenberg,
national president, will report on
the recent World ORT Congress
in Rome.

To Aid Student by
“Dybbuk” Show
The Academy Theatre’s No
vember 4 performance of the
“Dybbuk” will be a special bene
fit for the Workmen’s Circle
Branch 1015 Student Scholar
ship fund.
This year Workmen’s Circle
branches of Atlanta have again
been invited by the Atlanta Jew
ish Community Council to spon
sor an Israeli student at one of
the local universities, according

man. “In the past, the organiza
tion raised in excess of $800 to
help subsidize tuition of two
Israeli students at Georgia Tech,”
he said.
The entire theater has been
reserved for November 4 and
some choice seats are still avail
able. Tickets, at $3.00 each, can
