RINGS ON THEIR FINGERS
Hershberg—Smilack
Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Hersh
berg of Atlanta announce the en
gagement of their daughter Joyce
Michele, to Dr. Zale Harlan Smi
lack, son of Mr. ano Mrs. Lester
D. Smilack of Winter H aven,
Florida.
The bride-elect graduated from
the Ahavath Achim Religious
School with scholastic honors and
was awarded the gold AA at her
confirmation. She was a member
of the first Ford Foundation Ac
celerated Class at Grady High;
the Math Club, elected to Mu
Alpha Theta, a member of the
Junior Civitans, the Library Club,
Allied Medical Careers, and vice
president of Junior Achievement.
She is at present a senior at Em
ory University,, where she is a
candidate for a Bachelor of Sci
ence in biology. Miss Hershberg

Sorority, Hillel and Phi Sigma
Society. She was a member of
the Emory Student Center Board.
Her grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Weiss of Atlanta and
Mrs. Philip Hershberg and the
late Mr Hershberg of Philadel
phia and Atlanta. Maternal great
grandparents were the late Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Saul, Atlanta pi
oneers, and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Weiss of Jacksonville. Pa
ternal great-grandparents were
the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael
Levy of Philadelphia and the
late Mr. and Mrs Herschell
Hershberg.
The groom-elect attended the
University of Florida, where he
was elected to Phi Eta Sigma. He
graduated in 1964 from Emory
University School of Dentistry,
receiving the school's Alpha
Omega scholarship award for the
top student in the senior class
He was elected to Omicron Kap
pa Upsilon, and is a member of
the Alpha Omega Dental Frater
nity, having received the Atlanta
Chapter Scholarship Award for
the highest average in the local
chapter. Last year Dr. Smilack
served his dental internship at the
United States Public Health
Service Hospital in New’ Orleans
He is currently teaching at Em
ory Dental School and next July
will enter a graduate program in
Oral Surgery at the Ohio State
University, Columbus. Ohio
His grandparents were the late
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Salzman and
the late Mr. and Mrs. Simon Smi
lack. Rabbi Harry H. Epstein will
perform the marriage, which will
be held March 20.
Malkin—Schneider
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham David
Malkin of Atlanta announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Bonnie Phyllis Malkin, to Ste
phen Schneider, son of Mrs.
Randolph Ory of Coral Gables,
and Bernard Schneider of Day
tona Beach.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Siegel and Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Malkin of Miami. She at
tended Emory University and the
University of Miami and received
a B. A. degree in physchology
from Georgia State College. She
was a member of Alpha Epsilon
Phi Sorority and Psi Chi Honor
Society, and is employed by the
Atlanta Board of Education in
the department of special educa
tion.
Mr. Schneider is the grandson
of Mrs. Max Klenberg Sr. and
the late Mr. Klenberg and the
late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schnei
der of Gastonia, N. C. He attend
ed the University of Miami and
Georgia Tech and w as graduated
from Georgia State College. He
did post-graduate work at the
University of Oklahoma under a
National Science Founda t i o n
scholarship and is teaching in
the Atlanta Public Schools and
Georgia State College.
The wedding will take place on
March 13 at the Ahavath Achim
Synagogue.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gerson-of
Atlanta announce the engagement
of their daughter, Marilyn Sue
Gerson, to Ronald Kent Weinstein,
son of Mrs< Alfred A. Weinstein,
and the late Dr. Alfred A. Wein
stein.
Miss Gerson attended the Uni
versity of Georgia where she was
a member of Sigma Delta Tau.
She is presently employed by
Rives, Massey & Hedges.
The future bridegroom will be
graduated in June from the Uni
versity of Georgia where he is a
member of Phi Epsilon Pi Fra
ternity.

Pomerance—Gillett
Dr. and Mrs. Elliott R. Pomer
ance of Atlanta announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Dale Ann Pomerance, to Dr.
Bruce M. Gillett, son of Mrs.
Samuel L. Gillett and the late
Mr. Gillett.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mrs. Dave Pomer
ance of Augusta, and the late Mr.
Pomerance, and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Wilensky of Augusta.
Miss Pomerance attended the
University of Georgia and Boston
University. She will be graduated
in June from Agnes Scott Col
lege, where she is Day Student
Chairman and on the Represen
tative Council. She is a member
of Delta Phi Epsilon and of
Alpha Lambda Delta.
The future bridegroom is the
grandson of Mrs. Morris Gillett
and the late Mr. Gillett of New
York, and Mrs. Philip Merkin of
New York.
Dr. Gillett attended Emory
University and the University of
Georgia, where he was a member
of Alpha Epsilon Pi. He was
graduated from the Medical Col
lege of Georgia where he was a
member of Phi Delta Epsilon. He
is now serving his residency at
the Grady Memorial Hosspital.
A spring wedding is planned.
Tzinberg—Reckler
The engagement of Miss Renee
Carol Tzinberg to Henry Richard
Reckler of Denver is announced
by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
(Esther Shafferman) Tzinberg of
East St. Louis.
Mr. Reckler is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Albert H. Reckler and
the grandson of Mrs. Albert Light,
also of Denver.
Miss Tzinberg is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip
Shafferman of Atlanta, and Harry
Tzinberg of East St. Louis.
Miss Tzinberg will receive her
degree in elementary education
from Washington University, St.
Louis, in August. She is a
member of Sigma Delta Tau sor
ority.
Mr. Reckler received his BSBA
degree from Washington Univer
sity in June. He is now attend-
