The Ahavath Achim Couples
Club discovered a new talent at
its recent vaudeville show. This
heretofore undiscovered star,
Aaron Lichtenstein, wowed the
audience in a surprise number.
Written and sung “with real feel
ing” by Mr. Lichtenstein, the
song, “I’m Going To Be A Grand
pa,” was a touching description
of the author’s feelings as the
birth of his first grandchild ap
proaches.

Staci Blaire Rothman, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Roth
man, was born November 29 in
Athens. Staci’s mother is the
former Mitzi Sue Canter. Grand
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Canter of Atlanta and Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Rothman of Greenville,
S. C. Paternal great-grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Canter
of Miami Beach and maternal
great-grandmother is Mrs. A.
Cenker of Atlanta.

Musical Jan. 4-15
Theatre Atlanta announces the
world premier of a new musical
comedy “The High Life” by Ben
Tarver and John Clifton Jan
uary 4 through January 15. Eve
ning performances will be held
at 8:30 p. m. Tuesday through
Saturday for the two weeks. A
matinee on Saturday, Jan. 15,
will begin at 2:30 p. m.
Managing director Jay Broad
describes the show, set in the
early 19th century, as a “period
of Empire design dresses and Reg
ency furnishings and rather loose
moral standards.” The setting is
a little wayside inn and the com
edy deals with the dallying of
royalty in matters of the heart.
Jonathan Phelps, one of At
lanta’s njost capable actors, takes
the lead role of an English lord,
jaded by too much “high living.”
Julie Stokes Griffith, soprano
who has appeared both with the
Atlanta Civic Ballet and Theatre
Under the Stars, plays opposite
him. Supporting roles are played
by Mercer Harris. Ellen Heard,
Coe Hhmling and Betty Anderson.
Performances are at the Com
munity Playhouse, 1150 Peach
