To Mark 25th Milestone
Ahavath Achim Sisterhood will celebrate the 25th anniversary of
its Donor Luncheon at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, Feb. 1, in Srochi Audi-

Dwoskin, Donor co-chairmen twenty-five years ago when Mrs. Abe
Goldstein was Sisterhood president.
Mrs. Alvin Halpern, president, and Mrs. William Waronker, this
year’s donor chairman, have announced a feature of the anniversary
program will be an original script, “Silhouettes of Sisterhood,” by
Mrs. Sol Klotz.
These “Silhouettes,” who walk, talk, sing and dance, will be
directed by Mrs. Marvin Silver and Mrs. Stanley Tenenbaum, with
choreography by Mrs. Milton Weinman.
Luncheon charge is $12.50. Tickets can be secured from Mrs.

Board chairman, told The Sou
thern Israelite in an Atlanta in
terview this week.
Mr. Blumberg visited the city
to confer on preparations for the
benefit dinner featuring Sandy
Koufax at the Marriott Motor
Hotel on Tuesday, February 1.

To Appear at Commander’s
Banquet February 20
Milton A. Waldor, National
Commander of the Jewish War
Veterans, will be princpal
speaker at the annual Command
er’s Banquet of Atlanta Post 112,
Jewish War Veterans, at 6 p.m.,
Sunday, Feb. 20, at the Ahavath
Achim Synagogue.
Commander Waldor has just
returned from a front line tour
of soldiers in Viet-Nam and will
give a first hand account of U.S.
participation which the Jewish
War Veterans supports.
A native of Newark, N. J.,
Commander Waldor served as a
first lieutenant bombardier in
the Seventh Air Force in the
China-Burma-India Theater. He
was awarded the Distinguished
Flying Cross, Air Medal with
Oak Leaf Cluster and other dec
orations of World War II.
Commander Waldor is a grad
uate of Rutgers University School
of Law, and is a practicing at
torney in Newa.rk, New Jersey.
He has been a member of the
Nfew Jersey Bar since 1951 and
holds membership in Essex
County Bar Association, and the
American Trial Lawyers Associa
tion.
Mr. Waldor has held every
elective post in the Jewish War
Veterans and prior to his elec
tion to Commander, he served
two successive terms as National
Judge Advocate. In addition, he
has been JWV national civil
rights officer, national legislative
officer, and a member of nation-

al executive committee.
Commander Waldor was
chosen "Outstanding Department
Commander in Nation ( 1959)”;
“Man of the Year,” Department
of New Jersey (1961); Comman
ders Award, Essex County Coun
cil (1955); and numerous other
citations and honorariums.
Active in community affairs.
Commander Waldor is a Past
Commander of American Legion
Weequahic Post No. 345, former
chairman of the American Can
cer Society, Mentally Retarded
Children, Heart Fund and Cere
bral Palsy. He has also served as
a member of the Robert Treat
Council of the Boy Scouts of
America, and the Governor’s
Committee to employ the Phys
ically Handicapped.
A member of Oriental Lodge
51, F&AM, Mr. Waldor is a past
patron of Newark Link 3, Order
of the Golden Chain. Mr. Waldor
was a member of the Speakers
Committee of the United Jewish
Appeal and the Israel Bond
Drive.
Commander Waldor, 40, was
elected national commander of
the Jewish War Veterans of the
United States of America on
September 19 at the Jewish War
Veterans’ 70th Annual National
Convention held at the Concord
Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, New
York. Commander Waldor and
his wife Mona and two chil
dren, Cathy 13, and Mitchel 7.
This banquet is in honor of
the outgoing Post Commander
Meyer Abgott for a year of out
standing services to the organiza
tion.
Post No. 112's Outstanding
Citizen’s Award will be present
ed to Atlantan Harry Harrison
at the Commanders Banquet.
Mr. Harrison has been a leader
in Jewish and communal activ
ities. Mr. Harrison’s distinguish
ed career includes service over
and beyond with such groups as
UJA, Israel Bonds, JWB, Ahav-

National JWV Shrine to War
Dead, JWB-USO, Southern Is
raelite, as well as to many other
civic and non-denominational
movements.

ception at the Marriott at 6:30
p. m.. one half hour before din
ner. Tommy Nobis, Preston Rid-
lehuber, Hank Aaron, Joe Tor
re, Coaches Robert E. Lee Dodd
and Vince Dooley are only a few
of the luminaries who will be on
hand, Dinner Chairman Joe Ger-
son announced. The Braves’ John
McHale and the Falcons’ Rankin
Smith, Honorary Chairmen, will
be present as an added treat
Adults will be admitted to the
pre-dinner reception only if ac
companied by a minor.

bution of $25 to the Levi Hospi
