Manny and Sadie Ward will
leave late in April for an ocean
cruise of several months to the
South Pacific. Before leaving
Manny will work out an inter
esting show for the bed-ridden
and wheel chair cases over at
the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital.
Harry and Molly Bauman are
thrilled to their finger tips. Why?
Well the Baumans’ granddaugh
ter and four of her buddies are
motoring down from Wisconsin
to spend a month in this neck of
the woods. Molly’s house and ga
rage is taking on the look of a
good motel and the refrigerator
is loaded with only the best.
On March 31, the final meet
ing of the month, 18 members
were honored because they had
grown a year older. Among them
were Helen Barack, Sol Cohen,
Max Kochman, Sarah Tay
lor, Harry Rosenberg, Ethel Ros
enberg, Bella Kaplow, Julius
Kohn, Annie Newman, Irwin
Levitt, Edna Fisher, Abe Shenk-
er, Joseph Schuss, Ada Silver-
man, Catherine Collins, Joe Wolf-
son and George Meltzner.
The newly elected officers will
be installed on Monday, April 11,
by Freddi Sohon, executive direc
tor of the Jewish Community
Council. They are Oscar Ascher,
president; Florence Ganz, first
vice president and chairman of
the Board; Samuel Mazear, sec
ond vice president; Manny Ward,
treasurer; Leon Kattan, record

Three elected members-at-large
are Annie Livingston, Nathan
Rubin and Mickey Erlich.
Arthur and Ida Cahn will leave
for Philadelphia, their home city,
next week and after a ten day
visit there will leave for a two
months European cruise. Sarah
Sharpstein is off for the North
to spend the summer months
with her family. Sigmund Tevel
and Clara Greenhut also took off
for the North. Savde Routman
will be heading for New York
about the middle of April to
spend the summer with her chil
dren.

Dattel—Levin
Janice Itae Dattel, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dattel of
Grenada, Miss., became the bride
of Jack David Levin, son of Mr.
and Mrs. David Levin of Atlanta,
March 26 at the Temple in At
lanta. Rabbi Jacob Rothschild of
ficiated.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Mrs. Alvin
Merlin of New Orleans, was her
sister’s matron of honor. Mr.
Levin was his son’s best man.

leans.
The bride’s parents gave a seat
ed dinner at the Progressive
Club. Janis Greenberg of Chat
tanooga kept the bride’s book.
After a wedding trip to Florida,
the newlyweds will live in At
lanta.
Davidson—Haskins
Mr. and Mrs. Sigmund Edward
Davidson of Roanoke, Va., an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Miss Bonnie Lynn Dav
idson, to Lawrence Alvin Has
kins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Haskins of Macon. The wedding
is planned to be in Roanoke in
August.
Miss Davidson, graduate of
Patrick Henry High School in
Roanoke, attended the University
of Georgia where she was a mem
ber of Sigma Delta Tau sorority,
and attends Boston University
now. She is the granddaughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Davidson of
Roanoke and of Monte S. Cohen
of Miami Beach, formerly of
Winston-Salem, N. C., and the
late Mrs. Cohen.
Mr. Haskins, graduate of La
nier High School, attended Mer
cer University and Emory Uni
versity where he was a member
of Alpha Epsilon Pi social fra
ternity and Alpha Phi Omega
service fraternity and was an In-
ter-fratemitv Council officer. He
is now attending the University
of Georgia, to be graduated in
the summer with a B.S. degree in
chemistry.
He is to enter Baltimore Col
lege of Dental Surgery. Univer
sity of Maryland in Sentember
and his bride will attend the Uni
versity of Maryland. He is the
grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Haskins of Macon and of
Mr. and Mrs. Max Turner, form
erly of Chicago, now of Macon.

adoption, whom they have named
Avram Baruch. Maternal grand
parents are Mr. and Mrs. David
Feld of Rego Park, Long Island,

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Geffen of At
lanta. Paternal great grandfather
is Rabbi Tobias Geffen, dean of
orthodox rabbis in the South and
the oldest living orthodox rabbi
in the United States.

leave April 6 on a cruise, were

a trip to Florida to visit relatives

Jan Jackson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Lou Jackson of Atlanta, has
been promoted to the rank of
Lieutenant Junior Grade. The
naval officer, who was graduated
from the University of Georgia,
received officers training at
Newport, R. I., and has recently
been transferred to San Diego,
Calif., for special assignment.

Hebrew Aemiemy
Spring Activity
On March 15, the seventh,
grade students at the Hebrew
Academy of Atlanta made an
educational field trip to the At
lanta Historical Society. From
there they went to study the
Cyclorama at Grant Park. This
field trip was a correlation of
history and language arts. The
students were excited and felt
this was quite an educational
experience.
The Kindergarten, studying
pre-historic animals, visited the
Greenbriar Shopping Center on
March 23, to see the imaginative
ly and scientifically reconstruct
ed dinosaurs on parade. They
brought back models for the
classes to view.
All Hebrew Academy pupils
will assemble April 1 in the
school auditorium for their an
nual Passover Model Seder. The
program has been planned in the
Hebrew department with Jacob
Mamane, chairman. The students
will sing many traditional Pass-
over songs during the Seder
program.
School will close Friday, April
1, at 12:30 p.m. for the Passover
holidays and will open for regular
school work on Wednesday, April
13, at 8:30 a.m.
