Dr. Haber called the proposed
benefits to non-public schools
unconstitutional and contrary to
the intent of Congress. Mr. Le
vine said the American Jewish
Committee approved the use of
Title I funds for non-public
school pupils but only for pro
grams conducted on public school
facilities.
Mr. Graubard said the ADL
strongly supported federally fi
nanced programs to help chil
dren from poverty areas, but ex
pressed concern about the possi
bility of a church-state separation
breach in use of Title I funds.
However, he added, the ADL
supported after-school centers
for disadvantaged school chil
dren, regardless of school affili
ation, provided Such programs
were conducted on public school
facilities.

By HARRY ROSE
It seems that all roads from
the North, East and West lead
south and right into the Sun
shine City of St. Petersburg, as
members of the SF Club return
to their homes here. Morris and
Bessie Brown arrived back to
their home after a two months
visit with their children in Chi
cago. Both Morris and Bessie
have fully recovered from the au
tomobile accident they had in
Georgia, in which their car was
destroyed.
Meyer and Lena Emsig also re
turned to St. Pete this week from
a two months visit with their kin
in Toronto, Canada. They will not
remain long as they plan to move
to Miami where they will make
their home in a retirement hotel.
The Emsigs have been residents
of Gulfport and took part in the
founding of the Gulfport Jewish
Center.
Ada and Bill Marx are back
home after a two week stay in
Nashville, Tenn. Ada is now busy
writing the opening play for the
SF Club, that will be presented
on Monday, Oct. 3. Ada is also
writing a special play for Han-
uka, to be presented at the Han-
uka Luncheon, given SF Club
annually by the National Coun
cil of Jewish Women.

midst after spending a very hap
py two months with her family
in Long Island. Abe and Ann
Schneiderman are back home
after a two months vacation with
their children in New York State.
Lillian Lee spent her vacation
with her family in the North
and showed happiness on being
back at the Gulf Beach gather
ing this week Harry and Ethel
Rosenberg are still talking of the
wonderful time they had with
their children in Cleveland and
the celebration there of their
Golden Wedding Anniversary.
The Rosenbergs now join the
SFC Golden Circle. Nancy Rubin
spent a week with her son in
Pittsburgh and last Saturday “the
gang’’ gathered at her home in
Madeira Beach to celeberate her
birthday.
Samuel Mazear was permitted
to leave the Mound Park Hos
pital for his home for a two-
week period but has returned to
the hospital where he will un
dergo surgery.
Julius Tankel, well known to
the members of SF Club, died in
a Chicago hospital last week. His
widow, Ida Tankel, also known
and well liked by the member
ship. is confined to the same hos
pital. reported to be in a serious
condition.
Jessie Zinaman waved farewell
to her friends and left for Tenn
essee where she will spend 10
days with her son and then on
