Entertainer Joey Russell Booked To
Appear at Dalton Israel Bond Dinner
DALTON— Joey Russell, pop
ular comedian, raconteur and
singer, will appear at a dinner
celebrating the eighteenth anni
versary of the State of Israel, it
has been announced by Leonard
Lorberbaum, chairman of the
sponsoring Dalton Committee for
State of Israel Bonds.
The event is set for Sunday,
Sept. 1, 6:30 p m., at Beth-El
Temple and will climax the 1966
Israel Bond drive in Dalton.
Mr. Russell has starred in nu
merous night clubs and hotels
throughout the country, and has
appeared in stage shows with
such leading show business per-
and acknowledged master of
today’s fast-paced comedy rou
tines, he presents a varied act
which has been hailed by critics
and the public.
Among the places he has ap
peared are Grossinger’s in the
Catskill Mountains, the St. Mor
itz Hotel in New York, the Sher-
aton-Cadillac in Detroit, and the
Chelsea Hotel in Atlantic City.
Admission is free.

Smugglers Trapped
By Israeli Police
TEL AVIV (JTA) — A ring of
smugglers whose operations in
volved at least $9,000,000 worth
of black market money and the
fraudulent import of many trucks
has been uncovered and broken
up in this country, the Israeli
police have announced.
The announcement stated that
two men are under arrest. One
of them, a Belgian tourist, has
been released in bail of 120,000
Israeli pounds ($40,000). In ad
dition, the police authorities said,
40 residents of Israel, many of
them recent immigrants, were
involved in the ring.

S. C., entertained at a luncheon
on August 24 in honor of Miss
Leona Schwartz, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Schwartz of
Aiken. Miss Schwartz will be
come the bride of Hastings W.
Cushman Jr. on September 10.
