gagement of their daughter Ellen
Joy Dikman to Harvey A. Gutt-
mann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mi
chael Guttmann, 305 13th Avenue
N. W., Aberdeen, South Dakota.
The bride-elect graduated from
Massey Junior College, Atlanta,
where she was affiliated with
Alpha Chi Delta. She is attend
ing Georgia State College. She is
presently employed at Hillside
Cottages, 690 Courtenay Drive,
N. E.
Mr. Guttmann is a graduate of
the University of Minnesota and
Woodrow Wilson College of Law.
He attended graduate school at
Georgia State College and Emory
University in Atlanta.
The future bridegroom is em
ployed at the Dinkier Motor
Hotel.
The wedding will be held De
cember 4 at the B’nai Israel Con
gregation with Rabbis Morris
Chapman, St. Petersburg, offici
ating.
Koplin Bat Mitzvah
Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Koplin of
Atlanta cordially invite their rel

Bat Mitzva of their daughter,
Janis Ellen, on Friday, Oct. 14,
at 8:15 p. m. at the Ahavath
Achim Synagogue. An Oneg

Janis is the granddaughter of
Mrs. Pincus Koplin, and the late
Mr. Koplin, and of Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Albert.
Marsha Cohn, daughter of Mrs.
Frances Cohn of Atlanta and the
late Jerome J. Cohn, has enter
ed her sophomore class at Van
derbilt University. Marsha was
valedictorian of North Fulton
High School in the class of ’65.
She is the granddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Kasper Cohen of At
lanta and Mrs. Ida Cohn of La
fayette, Calif.
Joel Epstein, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Epstein of Atlanta,
has entered the freshman class of
Tulane University in New Or
leans. He is a member of the
pledge class of Sigma Alpha Mu.
Joel is the grandson of Mr. and
Mrs. Kasper Cohen of Atlanta
and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Epstein, formerly of Memphis.
Cantor Goodfriend
To Officiate at
Son's Bar Mitzva
It isn’t often, at least in At
lanta, that a cantor has the op
portunity to officiate at the Bar
Mitzva of his own son. Ahav
ath Achim’s Cantor Isaac
Goodfriend will have that as
signment at Sabbath services
on October 15.
He and Rabbi Harry Epstein
will officiate at the Bar
Mitzva of the Goodfriend’s son
David. A Kiddush will follow.
No cards.
The Goodfriends will honor
their son at an open house from
3 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 16,
at Srochi Hall at the Synago
gue. Friends and relatives are
invited.
David, who is a graduate of
Hebrew Academy, is currently
enrolled as a student at the
Memphis Yeshiva.
SAVANNAH NEWS
Dr. and Mrs. David Brossell
Zenoff and sons Victor and
Andrew are now residing in New
York where Dr. Zenoff is assist
ant professor at the Graduate
School of Business at Columbia
University. Mrs. Zenoff is the
former Nancy Robinson of Savan
nah, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Abro Robinson.
Barnard M. Portman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ben H. Portman, a
senior at Virginia Law School,
was recently named one of the
“Distinguished Students” for his
academic excellence and scholar
ship.
Fred S. Clark has been elected
president of the Savannah chap
ter of the Federal Bar Assn.

Adas Yeshurun Synagogue will
hold its annual Installation Din
ner Dance on Sunday evening,
Oct. 30 in the Abram Pomerance
Memorial Hall. Aaron Kaplan
and Max Estroff are chairmen.
Dr. and Mrs. Harold Lefkoff
and children of Atlanta spent
Rosh Hashana holidays with Mrs.
Lefkoffs mother, Mrs. Jennie
Teskey. Mrs. Lefkoff is the
former Evelyn Tesky of Augusta.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bogo and
son Louis Michael of Chattanooga
were recent visitors with Mr.
Bogo’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max
Bogo and family.

Toback—Melich
Barbara Ann Toback and
Arthur Ellis Melich were married
August 20 at the Deauville Hotel
on Miami Beach. Rabbi Morris
A. Kepper officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Toback of
Coral Gables, Fla.
The groom is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. Edw. J. Melich of Treasure
Island, Fla. He is now a senior
at the University of Miami School
of Medicine.
Miss Judith Toback was her
sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Elaine
Girard Glickman, Mrs. Marvin
Solomon of Tampa, sister of the
groom, and Mrs. Howard N.
Golbut and Lois Vovat, cousins
of the bride.
Louis Toback served as best
man. Groomsmen were D.
Stephen Toback, Lewis Toback,
Robert Ross and Lawrence
Toback.
Elsie Leven was flower girl.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held in the Napolean
Room of the Deauville Hotel.
After a wedding trip to Mexico,
Mr. and Mrs. Melich are now re
siding in Miami.
