Extreme Right
(From page 4)
son? I think not
Some people hare said. There's
nothing to be alarmed a boot in
this radical right movement We
hare always had them. They
dome and they go. What these
people forget is that each of these
movements from Know Nothing-
ism to Birrhism have had vigor-
oas and continuing opposition
from Americans who were deep
ly tmbned with the dignity and
of freedom and who
determined that freedom
be lost It is oar role
today to be actively and forth
rightly determined that freedom
will not be lost in this great
load of oars. Freedom of re
ligion implies that there most be
hi i dsns We will msiatain free-
darn only so long as we are
vigilant ia its protection.
That is the role of the Anti-
Defamation League. The ADL
needs your help and your en
couragement—in time, in talent
and in treasure. Research re
quires funds. Preparation and
nrculatian of literature require
funds. Speakers and radio and
television and books require
funds. 1 know that you will re
spond generously. If you have
given before, do so again. If you
have not, recall the words of
Justice Felix Frankfurther: “Wis
dom too often never comes, so
one ought not to reject it merely
because it comes late.”
Milton wrote: “None can love
freedom heartily but good men.”
I am confident that with your
religious faith and your devotion
to America, you here are good
men indeed.
