Israel Cabinet Minister to Address
CommunityCouncilAnnualMeeting
Moshe Kol, Minister of Tour
ism of the State of Israel, will
be the guest of honor at the an
nual meeting of the Jewish Com
munity Council at 8 p. m. Wed
nesday, Oct. 26, at the AJCC, it
was announced by Bernard How
ard, president.
Delegates and alternates of the
affiliated organizations of the
Council will also elect the of
ficers, representatives-at-lar g e ,
and the members of the Execu
tive Committee.
Reports will be given on the
Community Council’s activities
during the past year and plans
for the future.
Consul General Zeev Boneh
and Amnon Gil-Ad, regional di
rector of the Israel Government
Tourist Office, have been invited
to attend the annual meeting.
Mr. Kol, who was recently ap
pointed to Israel’s Cabinet, has a
long history of service since the
State of Israel was established
18 years ago as well as prior to
that date. He has served as chair
man of the Israel Liberal Party
and was one of the signatories of
the Independence Declaration of
the State of Israel.
For 19 years Mr. Kol served as
the head of the Youth Aliyah of
the Jewish Agency and since
1952 he has acted as the first
vice president of the Interna
tional Children’s Communities
Committee under the auspices of
UNESCO.

Atlanta Hadassah Poised
For Golden Jubilee Donor
Atlanta will observe its. Hadas
sah Golden Jubilee at its annual
donor dinner Oct. 30 at 7:30 p. m.
at the Marriott Motor Hotel.
Mrs. Mortimer Jacobson, dy
namic national president of Ha
dassah, will be the guest speaker.
A feature of the jubilee pro
gram will be an original musical
presentation entitled “Reflections
’66,” written by Mrs. Gerald
Blonder, Mrs. Ronald Katz. Mrs.
Leonard Levey, and Mrs. Milton
Weinman. Nostalgia, wit, and
humor are blended together to
refresh the memory of a vital
period in the life of the Atlanta
community as Hadassah “reviews
her fifty years of growth and
achievement for Israel and for
American Jewry.”
Mrs. Bert Weston, chapter
president, announces that there
will be a champagne toast to the
original founders of the Atlanta
chapter and to the nineteen past
presidents. (Only Mrs. Jacob
Buchwald, the first president, is
no longer living.) The six foun
ders invited to share the spot
light include Mrs. Sam Schein-
baum, Mrs. J. B. Jacobs and Mrs.
E. A. Joseph, all of Atlanta; Mrs.
J. B. Breman, Asheville, N. C.,
Mrs. Sam Zaban, Chicago, and
Mrs. Dave Hirsch, Charleston.

to head the Or VeShalom 1966
Israel Bond drive to mobilize
investment capital for Israel’s
economic development.

tions of Africa and Asia.”

ORT members from Atlanta at
tending tne I960 National Board
Conference held this week in Los
Angeles were Mrs. Dave Roth-
farb, Atlanta ORT pres : dent’
Mrs. Donald Goldman, national
board delegate; Mrs. Sam Galan-
ti. alternate, and Mrs. Jack Bress-
Icr, member of national expan
sion committee.
The conference, attended by
representatives of ORT’s 512
chapters planned for ORT’s de
velopment and expansion to meet
the needs of growing nations for
skilled manpower.
The appointments were an
nounced this week by Stanford
Firestone, president of Congre
gation Or VeShalom, who hailed
both men for their 1965 success
ful campaign efforts in mobiliz
ing the congregation to achieve
unprecedented results.
"Throughout their distinguish
ed careers, Mr. Benator and Mr.
De Leon have worked tirelessly
to promote the welfare of all
men, regardless of race, religion
or creed,” he declared. “We wel
come their accession to the key
leadership post at Or VeShalom
and eagerly anticipate the fruit
ful returns which they will help
to produce for Israel in our 1966
campaign.”
A joint statement by Mr. Ben
ator and Mr. De Leon expressed
gratitude for the appointments
and confidence that Or VeShalom
would make a significant contri
bution to the Israel Bond effort.

which unites the peoples of two
great democracies for the bene
fit of mankind,” they asserted.
“By investing in Israel’s econ
omy, we help to develon the po
