Music and Theatre
The Arts
When,, Giuseppe Verdi’s un
paralleled opera "Rigoletto” is
presented at the Atlanta Munici
pal Auditorium on Thursday,
March 9, by the Goldovsky Opera
Theater and the Atlanta Sym
phony Orchestra, Atlantans will
have no difficulty in following
the chilling intrigues and ad
ventures. “Rigoletto,” as perform
ed by the Gokiovsky Company,
has been painstakingly translated
into contemporary idiomatic Eng
lish.
The Goldovsky ppera Theater's
rigid Opera-in-English policy is
dictated by the Company’s prin
cipal purpose of presenting great
opera as living theater; and this
emphasis on the theatrical aspects
of the lyric art has been both
“cause and effect” of the Opera-
in-English policy.
Tickets for this production may
be purchased at the Atlanta
Symphony Box Office, Main
Lobby, Atlanta Merchandise
Mart.

said, “LUV” is probably the
answer to existentialism, bad
dreams, Sigmund Freud, fear and
trembling, Dear Abbey, Oswald
Spengler, and the ever present
problem of underarm unpleasant
ness. It certainly is the answer
to a theater-goer’s prayer.”

Chance to Register
ALBANY (JTA) — The New
York State Assembly has passed
and sent to the Senate a bill to
insure that Jewish voters in New
York State will not be deprived
of a chance to register because of
religious date conflicts.
The measure notes that the fifth
Thursday before election day this
year, a day for registration in
most localities, falls on Rosh
Hashana. The bill asks that the
poll day be shifted to the fifth
Tuesday.
