A distinguished
Israeli scholar,
Ur. Rabin was
educated at the
Universities of Rabin
Jerusalem and London and served
on the faculties of Oxford Uni
versity and the Sorbonne. He has
published a number of books and
numerous articles and also served
as an editor of “Sifrut,” a journal
for contemporary Hebrew litera
ture.
Since 1957, Dr. Rabin has been
a member of the world-famous
Hebrew Language Academy of
Israel which coins new Hebrew
terms and serves as the linguistic
“supreme court” in all matters
concerning the acceptance or re
jection of Hebraic innovations.
The Annual Meeting was also to
elect officers and board members
for the year 1967-68, it was re
ported by Mrs. Joseph Cuba,
Chairman of the Bureau’s Nom
inating Committee.
Mrs. Cuba added that Bernard
Gordon, president of the Bureau
since April, 1966, was to be nom
inated lor a second term.
To serve with Mr. Gordon as
officers, the following names
were placed in nomination: Dr.
Larry Bregman, Jcsiah Bepator,
Edward Krick for Vice Presi
dent; Ben Rabinowitz for Secre
tary; Milton Krebs for treasurer.
For Members-at-Large, the fol
lowing individuals were nominat
ed: Mrs. Howard Adler, Mrs.
George Alterman, Mrs. Sam Al-
terman, James Arogeti, Ralph
Benator, Dr. Morris Benveniste,
Henry Birnbrey, Isaac Capelouto,
