Atlanta NCCJ Chairman Named For
May 23 Brotherhood Awards Event
G. Albert Lawton, president of
the Atlanta-based Georgia Inter
national Life Insurance Company,
has been named chairman of the
annual Brotherhood Awards Din
ner of the National Conference of
Christians and Jews which will
be held May 23 at the new Reg
ency Hyatt House.
The Brotherhood Awaras Din
ner each year honors three Geor
gians for “significant contribu
tions to the improvement of hu
man relations.” A Catholic, a
Protestant, and a Jew are cited
on each occasion.
Lawton himself was the recipi
ent of the Brotherhood Award in
1966 along with Frank Malone,
president of the Southern Bell
Telephone Company, and Max M.

JERUSALEM (JTA)—Road and
construction equipment made by
the metal division of Solel Boneh,
an affiliate of the Histadrut, Is
rael’s Labor Federation, is com
peting successfully with European
products in the Asian and Afri
can markets, officials reported
here. They said orders for such
equipment includes rollers, vibra
tors, compressors and bumpers
with swiveling bases.

also serves on the board of trus
tees of the national organization.

Notre Dame University, he is
chairman of the Ignatius House
Advisory Committee and a past
chairman of the St. Martin Coun
cil on Human Relations.
He is a member of the Emory
University Business School Ad
visory Committee, and a director
of the Atlanta Music Club and
the Atlanta Symphony Guild.

Abba Khoushy of Haifa has pro
posed a five-day work week with
five days payment in place of
Israel’s present six-day work
week as a step toward solution of
Israel’s current eoonomic slump.
He was speaking at the annual
meeting of the Haifa Chamber of
Commerce. Replying to an argu
ment that a cut in wages would
decrease demand, he said that ex
cess production should be divert
ed to export markets.
